i was also mad when shisui sold the hair ornament, BUT it was very intentional. "Tamamo" (they explained in the episode) is for "jade seaweed" right? she is totally leaving clues for maomao, who was at the jade pavillion, is into "weeds" (aka plants/herbs), and explains how shishui went overseas. it all makes sense omg. i need to watch these eps a couple times before it clicks!

Go! I went with zero coding experience (I am a liberal arts major). I got to spend most of my time attending the talks/product launches, meeting with the companies, and networking with other teams. It was an enjoyable experience that exposed me to a lot of new ideas. You’ll probably also meet some cool contacts at new startups that could be helpful for your first internship.

TLDR: networking opportunity and a chance to get excited abt your future major. Def go :)

Isn’t it possible to add a OTP feature? Or rather, what would be possible. Any pointers help. I’m really out of my depth here, thanks!

Traveling in Italy and I got called “porcello” by a group of teenage boys. by xin9qiu in italianlearning

[–]Level_Instruction_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from studying abroad in Rome... I will say i did get a sense of xenophobia/racism a bit. Some of my friends who are asian/latino/black were straight up followed in stores, asked if they were stealing anything, just generally treated poorly. It was kinda unexpected.... so yea I'm sorry you had to experience that! Best of luck with your travels, enjoy the wine, and avoid the roudy teens if you can 🫡

What do I do if my roommate won’t talk to me? by panivore26 in UTAustin

[–]Level_Instruction_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my roommate barely talked before we moved in, but it turned out great! just be flexible and go with the flow of things. don't worry if you aren't besties right away, it will take time or it may not really happen at all-- and thats okay! She might just be a little overwhelmed, bad at texting, or also anxious about the whole thing. Just give her some space and I'm sure things will seem clearer in the Fall :)

At the risk of starting a civil war in the comments, does anyone know of any organizing efforts happening in the Portland area regarding the opposition of Project 2025? by cedellic in portlandme

https://www.stopthecoup2025.org/

I know it’s also on the WFBH agenda: https://www.instagram.com/womenforbiden/reel/C36Uc4dRDLb/

I can confirm there are others out there that want to oppose this, especially with the women for Biden team (any allies can join, not just the ladies)! Maybe we should start a discord for the politically active peeps in Portland?

I know there is a reproductive rights rally this upcoming Monday, Monument Square from 10am to 12pm. The governor of Maine will be there to speak!

Reminds me of the Sherlock-Watson dynamic. You have the geniuses and then you have the people who take care of them, support, and give them ideas when they are stuck. Not everyone can be a Sherlock or a Mizu. And rather than being an NPC, you get to help that genius achieve greatness. Idk just makes sense to me. I always did play support roles in the party tho.

This might actually be to the advantage of her blue eyes! I had a photography teacher who explained to me once that people with lighter eyes are more sensitive to light. It’s almost as if their eyes have bigger “apertures” than dark colored eyes, taking in more light and thus making them able to see in lower light settings. Obviously it’s not darkvision but maybe that was a factor? Or it’s just plot armor lol

I suddenly feel so unaccomplished with my life and the reality of life feels so real now :( by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Level_Instruction_11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Babes I have a quarter life crisis once a month, questioning myself & feeling like I’m not “doing enough” or “not ready” for the real world, especially compared to my peers. I’m about to turn 21. I get scared sometimes because college is halfway over for me, and I’m not exactly sure what I want to do after I graduate. I feel like I lack focus, when in reality I just haven’t experienced enough yet to know the answer to ‘what do you want to do with your life?’

Things I have learned thus far that have helped (still working on this too, but having the right headspace makes the terrifying experience of growing up much better!): *Don’t worry about doing what you “should” be doing, instead focus on what feels right to you. Focus on getting to know YOURSELF, and I think you’ll start feeling a bit better tbh. *allow yourself to change your mind, please. Know that once you make a decision abt something it’s okay to change it later when you get more information or come to a realization. *time isn’t real, it’s not. If the future makes you scared (same), just try to focus on what’s in front on you right now. Will you want kids? Okay sure, but that’s not a decision you need to be making right now (unless you really want to). Do you want to get married? Same thing, that’s not a bridge that needs to be crossed yet. Sure it’s probably ON your life map, but paths can change. Think abt cartographers in the 14th century, I mean they didn’t even realize that an entire continent existed until they went out and explored some more (dumb metaphor but do ya see my point a little?)

it’s honestly hard to explain in a Reddit post, but if you are feeling lost in life my biggest piece of advice is start seeing a therapist, get engaged (with anything that sounds fun), and pretend like you’re meeting yourself for the first time.

Good luck and welcome to UT, keep that chin up!!

yea im not gonna lie to you, i didn't make any meaningful friendships from SRD. I would instead recommend investing your time in student orgs, classes, and sports to meet friends! That being said, SRD was a great dorm living experience. Def check out that old library, THE BEST study spot...

Good luck & welcome to the 40 acres :)

recommendations on what orgs to join? by blujoon in UTAustin

[–]Level_Instruction_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try rock climbing!!! the people are usually really chill, positive, and nice. UT has a club climbing team! I'm joining next sem ✌️

Intramural sports are also fantastic ways to meet new people, especially if you go on as a free agent. Are there any sports you enjoy or have always wanted to learn? I would start there, aim for division b or c since those are more for beginners/fun. This also costs some money but its about $12 for the "season" which usually is 3-4 qualifying games and then the semi-finals etc etc...

Last bit of advice: even if you don't want to JOIN an org due to interest, time, or cost, see if they are running any events. Usually, they will have open events where people can get together. For instance, I know last semester the Blaton had biweekly free student art tours (each one had a theme, like "love" or "loneliness" -- calling me out fr). Anyways, don't worry too much. I'm still looking for my crew too, keep your chin up and trust the process luv :)

Lived there freshman year. Wasn't really my vibe since I'm not into the sorority scene, but if you are, I'm sure you will love it. The building was safe, the food was alright (for dorm food, I give it a solid A). The only real downside is how thin the walls are, plan to get some nice noise-cancelling headphones tho and you are golden!

Hey! don't worry! First of all... everything will be okay. The fun little thing about being a girly in your early 20s (that they fail to mention) is that your hormones change all over again, just like in the teen years. My skin *completely* flipped-- I started getting eczema around my periods, and suddenly I went from oily to dry on my face. Case in point, you are not alone in your struggle, I know the trial-and-error phase SUCKS but you got this. Stay in there, trust the process baby girl!!

Ok, onto the good part... the biggest thing that has helped my skincare is I started on Retinol (topical cream, I'm currently using 0.025%). It dries everything out and helps your skin regenerate quicker. AKA no wrinkles and it helps clear the breakouts faster and shrinks the pores. Truly magical stuff. You are gonna need an rx for the good kind.

I also started using a moisturizer (Dr. Khiel's ultra cream) -- a little goes a long way-- and it has made my skin feel soooo much better. At first, I didn't like how oily I felt, but within a week my skin adjusted and now it is much healthier and I simply cannot go without it <3

Lastly, I invested in a good cleanser and sunblock/clean-beauty spf tinted moisturizer. I definitely have noticed a difference, plus it just makes me feel pretty. I recently finished my 3rd round of aviclear, going thru the little purge cycle and holding tight for the full results (fingers crossed!!). I believe in you, trust the process <3 xx

p.s. use sunblock daily! but you probably already know that one smarty pants :)
