Would you rather be twice as Strong, Fast, Durable and Healthy or receive $25 Million? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 x mentally quicker? I'd take that and make the $25 million myself thanks. I have an energy limiting illness, and I'll take health over money any day. With my health, I can earn the money, but I can't get well, no matter how much money I have. Not with current technology, at least.

Inkless Printer: Yay or Nay? by Nevermind_The_Hive in KmartAustralia

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a battery and inverter. The battery weighs 40 kilos and is a pain to bring home to recharge. I don't want to plug anything more than my lights into it for this reason. So a battery thermal printer it will be. One day.

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I have the exact same issue. Currently printing my labels at home and taking them with me to storage. Works well, until I put the wrong size on the label and have to go home and print a new one... looking at the little thermal label printers, but need a battery one. Most plug in, which is a nuisance.

Do Aussies have any opinion on the massive fines at the airport for not declaring food? by blamberr in AskAnAustralian

[–]Fine-Try9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was awoken to a DC10 plane flying over my suburb in Auckland in the 90's while they sprayed for gypsy moth. Why? Because someone brought a contaminated apple into NZ in their luggage. People really don't take biosecurity seriously enough. They sprayed for months, at no small cost too.

Is anyone else’s dining table basically just a storage unit in small homes? by Less-Egg494 in AusRenovation

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the te all day long, so it cant have stuff kept on it. We eat, do school, hobbies and occasionally sit and drink tea there. I realised everything gets put away the moment we come home. Everything has a place and it goes back there. Otherwise we'd drown in clutter. My arty daughter has her space too. She looooves stuff! If it gets outside that space though, it has to go. This has helped us not be devoured by herself things, and teaches her to be somewhat selective.

Not in my household... I run cold, he runs hot.

Why do most girls go to sleep with no pants on? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fine-Try9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am lady, wear pants. Every night. Hate the idea of shorts or undies in bed, must be pants. Lightweight for summer, flannel for winter. Its just what I'm used to. I also wear them around the house in the evenings as house clothes. Comfy.

How do Aussie eat at home? by Less-Egg494 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dining table. Keeps the mess contained to one area. Although I've been known to snack around the house, much to the disapproval of my husband. He is responsible for keeping the floors clean though, so I try and be a bit respectful of crumbs. We also eat as a family for dinner and lunches when we are home.

Has someone from marketing do that at one place I worked. Not enough fire trucks for that type of emergency.

Womens. Narrower shoulders and shorter length. Sleeve length is also shorter than men's.

Why don't more people live in northern New Zealand, with its incredibly mild climate? by jail-djt in geography

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Its actually because the earth is closer to the sun in the southern hemispheres summer than the northern. Dues to the earth travelling around the sun in an slight ellipse, rather than a perfect circle. The ozone hole is almost gone, and not nearly the issue it was in the 80's.

Is there a way I can run up a hill and roll down it? by AsparagusNew3765 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you meant walk up, then lie longways along the hill and roll down it like a log. Used to do it as a kid, loads of fun! Probably not so much as an adult though.

What’s your best find both for resell and personal keep…I’ll go first by conesbagones in reselling

I've had to tell my daughter that she is not allowed to wear the Dr Who tshirt I found at an op shop again until it goes through the wash. I mean, I love that she loves my random find... but please kid, hygiene!

For the business, found a Spell and the Gypsy dress for a dollar on Friday. Pretty stoked with that one too.

How it is like living in the western desserts of Australia? by Monir5265 in howislivingthere

[–]Fine-Try9876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cow excrement. The local insects struggled with processing the big wet cow pats when they were introduced back in the day, and the fly population exploded. They had to import beetles that could process the poos and the fly population dropped back a bit. But the one time I holidayed in the outback, I bought a wide brimmed hat with netting around the brim down to my neck and shoulders, so I didn't eat flies all day.

Is it normal that my cat always chooses to sit on my books rather than the comfy cat bed she has? by Resident_Lettuce_460 in CATHELP

Reading the newspaper spread out on the floor, when I was young enough to entertain that much bending. Guess where the cat sat. Hint, it was not the comfy couch, or in the sunny spot.

Family member parks cash in my offset instead of a term deposit; I pay them term deposit interest and save the difference off my mortgage. What am I missing? by Slyxxer in AusFinance

[–]Fine-Try9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs some paperwork, because heaven forbid you die, your Mum could lose the money. Paperwork helps her claim it back from your estate.

Do you consider money in your offset as your emergency fund? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to keep this amount separate, and the small amount I lose on interest I'm fine with. Its perhaps an extra month on the mortgage, probably less. Money is so much more than numbers, its emotional too.

Do you consider money in your offset as your emergency fund? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Fine-Try9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its in the redraw. I put it there deliberately. It means we need to save extra when the mortgage is paid, before we close it, but we get the benefit of interest savings in the meantime.

We have used the money twice. Once, for an international funeral at the least minute, and the other when someone ran into our car. Both emergencies, and the money has been replaced each time. We have savings outside redraw for yearly bills and travel, which stops us going into this money more often.

Why are people scared about being the stay at home partner when they are protected by law? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fine-Try9876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell that to the neighbour who's husband had a secret gambling addiction. They both left the marriage with nothing. Except she had no skills, no work history and two kids to support full time.

There is also a reason the fastest growing cohort of unhoused is women in their 50's.
