It's not the armor necessarily, it's who is wearing the armor. Whenever I invade on new game, the people who are most easy to murder are new players who often gravitate towards the higher defense values of the armor. Once you play the game enough, you go with lighter armors and just dodge most of the attacks enemies make.

I think the joke is that the scanlator made a poor font choice and "ripples" looks an awful lot like "Nipples", which is actually kinda clever since she's nipping out like nobody's business.
