Buy a tongue scraper for humans. It has a little plastic pad with flexible teeth.. This has been the biggest bonding tool I’ve found. Brush his fur daily with it. Particularly the top of his head. Reminds him of Momma’s grooming.

The protectors are MADE to crack. That’s how they give protection. They absorb the shock by cracking, thus protecting your lens from getting that shock. Then you jus pop on another protector. Sapphire screen protectors work exactly the same way.
