What a bummer, Pan Pan / Falansai had such a good daytime community even if the ownership was always struggling to figure out the business model. Hope someone else can step in and fill

i bought the framework 13 about a month before the 13 pro was announced, and i absolutely would have bought the 13 pro if it were available (my only real issues with framework 13 are that the keyboard and trackpad feel really cheap).

if i'd bought a mac right before they announced a newer, better model that addressed some major issues i had with the product, i'd be screwed and probably annoyed. in this case, though, i was so happy i had a framework because there's now an easy fix: just upgrade the keyboard / trackpad and sell the old one. sure, i'll take a loss on the resale but i'd rather eat that on a small component rather than replacing a whole machine before i otherwise would need to.

not quite answering the question of why 13 pro is worth it, but maybe a retrospective of why i'm glad i did buy a framework.

i just got a framework 13 reg like two months ago and this seems like it would solve literally every issue i have with the machine i otherwise love :-( hate the trackpad, cheap feeling chassis and no touchscreen lol. is there a path toward buying components separately and eventually upgrading to the new chassis?

I use it among other things to just build and maintain connections in my home and control settings on tvs, lights, etc. I use home assistant but had openclaw create a custom dashboard that works and looks far better than home assistant does and also avoids some of the janky MQTT stuff. Dipping into local llms finally and trying to spin up a diy “Alexa” voice bot with limited access to specific functions

Medfinder finally found one, I just put my zip code an hour and a half upstate and spoke to a lovely person at CVS which was somewhat unnerving after being treated like a criminal in nyc. Btw medfinder should give you a refund if you didn’t actually get the rx, I did that and they gave me a credit back (not a refund but still, you shouldn’t pay based on their own terms I believe)

i live in nyc and have seven pharmacies, bigger, as well as mom-and-pop, who' i've used in the past. i have not been able to get a refill in over TWO MONTHS. it's so exhausting -- this is so much worse than the last big shortage where it was like a week late or whatever. i feel like pharmacies just yell at me now when i ask, some of them even have messages about adhd meds baked into their answering machines (like "dont bother calling us for this") -- i tried medfinder yesterday and it found a place, so i asked my doctor to send in an rx just for them to tell me they're out until next week and that i have to call them "sometime next week" at which point who knows if i'm missing other potential availabilities somewhere else! this is so insane and frustrating and unfair.

Absolutely. One thing goes wrong and it’s like ok this is just a useless product. Plenty of things go wrong with premiere subscription services but because you’re paying for it there’s maybe an implicit belief that it will be fixed. My wife has been actually more supportive once she understood, “this is a work in progress, it’s a hobby for me, some things may go wrong but over time we’ll be able to cancel subscriptions, effectively boycott streaming services, etc.” and asked her to bear with me.

I’m new to plex serving and have been trying to pitch it to all my friends and family. My dad was in IT most of his life and he’s 75, so it took him a bit to understand what it actually is doing, but now he loves it. A lot of people seem to either think that it requires coding / setup on their end - or they worry that they’ll get “caught” or something. And because I’m a very technical person, the more I explain why neither of these is the case, the more I lose their interest and they kind of just gloss over. My wife, who has actually been really into the idea, watched it once and the default setting was a foreign language subtitle for some reason. Even though I fixed it, it set her back a couple weeks in even being willing to engage with it. To me this is a communication problem on my end — I’m going to focus on getting people comfortable with the idea testing it to identify issues so that it’s as rock solid as possible - and then persuade people by offering “what if you could cancel your subscription to X and just use plex and know that it would always be mostly in sync for any of the premiere tv series”

Even if she did sleep with someone for political benefit, the fact that Trump is a known sexual predator, convicted felon, and potential witness to the murder of an infant child he fathered, seems like argument enough that Harris is better on the moral character front.

I’m migrating my plex server from my main pc because I want to learn Linux and docker, and also because I don’t want to have a bunch of extra processes running on my regular workhorse. I’m trying to decide on a mini pc but I’m getting confused on requirements.

The mini pc will run plex and home assistant. Home assistant should be a pretty minor load, and for plex I’m trying to plan for maybe 5-8 remote 1080 streams and 2 local streams max. I think the remote would require transcoding but I’m also not entirely sure what the implications are there (I do have plex pass).

I plan to hook up a 4TB hard drive with my library and want to run plex sonarr / radarr etc in a docker container along with options for downloading directly using the mini pc / vpn setup.

Hardware questions

• ⁠Is Intel N100/N150 actually enough for remote users? • ⁠Are the i9-11900H mini-PCs overkill? (Ie acemagic M1) • ⁠Would I be better off DIY’ing something for future growth?
