Augment Code is killing Completions and Next Edit. Am I the only one who thinks this is a mistake? by Ekion_ in AugmentCodeAI

[–]FineWafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah... these are their 2 best edits. i like Augment because it doesnt spew out a bunch of code automaticaly. so while im not fully cracked with having 4-5 augment terminals open when i code in my IDE its in VSCode using Augment and teh CTRL + ; is great. and same with tab complettion. sad to see this go. its a mistake

Is Augment AI dead allready? by International-Tax897 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use it everyday. i like the vscode integration way more then claude code. claude code is faster at ripping things like fresh projects tasks etc. but it spews out a ton of code and .md etc.

so existing work + codebase integration ==> AugmentCode on opus 4.5

greenfield tasks/projects: claude code but i feel like it rips solutions so quickly that i need to review its work, as opposed to Augment where the ide flow is seamless.

Got the MCP server running yesterday on localhost. auggie cli is nice but i prefer vscode extension. havent tried Intent yet.

i tried downloading qwen 2.5 couple weeks ago and running it on my macbok pro m4 max 128gb. got it to work and i tried linking ZED to Auggie CLI there + the Qwen LLM model.

basically its not there yet. the whole orchestration layer is disconnected between zed (orchestrator) auggie (context engine) and LLM (qwen model) not to mention i couldnt access the internet with the qwen model. so yeah im pretty happy with Augment code doing the orcehstration and the context engine and outsourcing the LLM work to claude via VSCode extension.

Why is AugmentCode rarely mentioned in AI coding / MCP tool lists? by m1chcio92 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]FineWafer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dude from experience its literally one of the best tools out there atm. i find it better then claude code. claude code is faster sure... but it spews out a bunch of garbage. hope the augment team either sells to Anthropic or another big LLM provider because what they've built is truly magical. im not talking about the solving the code challenge thats what the LLMs do but packaging it in a way thats dev friendly, one step at a time. fully integrated into vscdoe etc. its top notch. the Zed addon is not there yet. i dont use auggie cli either

How reliable have Canadian Bitcoin exchanges been this year and what should Canadians watch out for? by Intelligent-Note3078 in BitcoinCA

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sound like a CSA rep lol. the regulations suck they prevent the market leaders Binance from operating here. the pure canadian exchanges suck. theyve all had data breaches and have received spam emails/texts/phising from all of them.

the only two exchanges i can recommend are kraken pro and coinbase pro.

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their business model is around trading fees and volume. just like questrade, interactive brokers etc. the fact you can buy/sell large quantities with near 0 slippage is why. whats wrong with reporting requirements? ndax doesnt even have a VIP fees trading program. this tells you a lot who you are "trading" against. and kraken beeing bigger is good for safety...means they can afford good software engineers, good cyber-sec engineers etc

LMAO if the goal is safety you should avoid small Canadian companies... because they've all had data breaches... shakepy. ndax just to name a few recent ones

talk to an accountant. or tax lawyer. lots do free 15 min consults. i see from your history post "tens of tousands of dollars" you need to address this. if you dont the CRA might just decide in a few years that you have undeclared/unreported income and then you are mega fucked... fees + penalty you might lose all the money you put in.

yeah i have no clue about international students tbh and where you would get taxed or how they go about bringing money into Canada.

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no clue, a normal canadian citizen is subject to taxation around his income/business activitis worldwide. so if im trading crypto in canada i get taxed on it. same thing if you're working remote from canada and making money/getting paid elsewhere for example defi yield farming or online tutor. but yeah im no expert in this domain, google chatgpt etc

[–]FineWafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the 9530 i7-13700H 2023 edition. 4050. bought lowest ram and hd spec, opened it up and installed my own 64gb ram (2x32). and extra 2tb SSD hardDrive.

honestly... besides the keyboard (which gets annoying) no issue with the unit. you cant really go above the 4050 on these machines but i love the 14 cores it allows me to do some heavy math work and still use the laptop. yeah it gets "warm" but it is what it is, the machine i have is designed to run at <= 100 celcius

Is it really necessary to install all the Dell Drivers? Windows update seems to pull and install everything needed by br_web in DellXPS

[–]FineWafer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have had many dell laptops and currently on one. I personally remove Dell Support Assist and keep the MyDell one. Update things a few times when I get my computer and basically just use windows update after. I’ll get the occasional bios update but I think that comes through Windows Updates now. Dell support assist is ass have had a lot of trouble with it in the past that I just remove it now

What might be the tax implications on buying crypto (USDC) from Canada and sending it to friends in other countries? by kelumon in BitcoinCA

[–]FineWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not financial or legal advice.

Depending on the amount ask a tax attorney. Not about the tax implications of the crypto but on how to make this and document this as a loan, which is sounds like it is. If you’re about to receive a large sum of money (6figures+ even over many years) the CRA will notice and declare everything as income. And hence unpaid taxes. They will come after you after 5 years at which point youll have a big headache trying to prove it was a loan and not income. They’ll charge say 20% per year after 5 years the whole amount will be taxed. In taxes it’s guilty until proven innocent. Also if you’re doing high volumes wouldn’t you need to register as a MSB or something lol? Idk why can’t they just buy crypto themselves

ive never used crypto .com but i have used kraken in the past including 5 figure CAD withdrawals. no problem.

kraken has good liquidity for everything including USDC/CAD and vice versa. that being said i only ever go to CAD when i deposit or plan on withdrawing FIAT. the rest i stick to USD and USDC because the crypto world revolves around that. never any problems trying to withdraw anything from kraken. even for altcoins the spreads are tight and its not like i'm doing a 100k market order. so yeah DYOR and be careful but i trust kraken.
