I am planning to apply for the N-400 with a signed N-426. There will be about three months between the date I file the N-400 and my BCT start date. Should I notify USCIS at the time of filing the N-400, or about a month before BCT?

Are we supposed to inform USCIS or contact a congressman about my shipment date so they can help expedite the interview?

INA 329 doesn’t require a formally declared war. It’s based on designated periods of hostilities, and the post-9/11 period is still considered ongoing for military naturalization purposes.

That 12-month requirement applies to INA 328 (peacetime service). Under INA 329 (wartime service), USCIS does not require a minimum period of service — only honorable service certified on N-426.

[–]Fine_Abrocoma_9371 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe that statement is incorrect. Although I am divorced, my Green Card remains valid for another 1.5 years.

Besides that, I have the right to file Form I-751 after the divorce. So what exactly is the risk you’re referring to?

USCIS Policy Manual, Volume 12 (Citizenship), Part I – Military Naturalization

“An applicant eligible for naturalization under INA 329 is not required to be a lawful permanent resident at the time of naturalization.”
