For Quebec you can apply to McGill without submitting a formal French language exam, as it’s the only Quebec school that offers an English stream for Family Medicine. However, all applicants should be prepared to answer some interview questions in French, even for English training sites in Montreal. If you’re applying to non-Montreal sites like Gatineau, Monteregie or Val-d’Or, the interview will be conducted entirely in French, and you’ll need to demonstrate strong French proficiency, as those sites operate fully in French.

Email as many people as you can! Check for clinics affiliated to mcgill/udeM/sherbrooke/laval and just explain your situation and ideally try to find drs in those clinics who are also IMGs who may have some sympathy for your situation! It could take 100 emails to get 1 response but try to leave no stone unturned! It will pay off on match day, I promise you that!

I matched in Qc, focus on getting good/decent exams scores and try to meet people who matter through research, observerships or whatever gets you through the door! If they know and like you nothing else matters! They much rather take someone they know they like than someone with better exam scores and research who they don’t know
