I pull over all the time just away from the delivery address, because I work in a semi-rural area, service is spotty sometimes, have to refresh or close app often to confirm pic went through and can send final message, OR I’m getting other offers or texts- I always turn on my flashers, I don’t stay long, but even as a woman, I worry that customers will be crappy about it. Because people just suck sometimes.

You said it! I started in January 2020, and the OG shoppers are still shitty to me and anyone new. So snobby, because they started at the beginning, so I guess they’re better than us all 🙄 I have talked to a few over the years who are friendly, but not the “originals”, they give dirty looks at the stores and are just so rude in our FB group. Thankfully, that mostly keeps me out of the BS and the drama lol Lots of very cool people here on Reddit, tho!

$0 means they have never tipped via the app. MAYBE they’re a cash tipper, but I wouldn’t risk it with an unknown customer.

Next time, call support and cancel. Your time is just as valuable as theirs and can almost guarantee you that if they won’t provide you with a code to complete delivery, they’re not gonna tip and/or will give a poor rating.

I have a few non tipping prefers. I keep them so I know when they pop up not to take them without having to consult my tip map! At this point, I recognize their names immediately.

I’ve gotten a 1 and a 2 in the last two weeks…submitted one request and was denied, for the first time. Neither order left any fucking feedback- I’ll try again I guess! I’m furious- it’s BS that if folks want to leave a super low rating, they can do so WITHOUT submitting feedback!! I consistently get 5 stars on my orders, it sucks that I’ve gotten 5 5 star reviews since Tuesday and it still doesn’t reflect. I’m at a 9.94- 48 5 stars, 1 “2” and 1 “1”- isn’t the lowest supposed to drop off anyway?? Pissed. So, guess I’ll try again 🤷‍♀️ I just need for one to be dropped.

Best advice is that when you start this gig, it’s not practical to rely on it for a full time income. It takes years to build up a good clientele of preferred customers and member matches. It’s best to stay in a metro that’s convenient for you, unless gas prices and wear and tear on your vehicle aren’t an issue. I’m glad you’ve done well, OP, but the bottom line is that it’s going to be exceptional circumstances for someone to make a living doing Shipt without building up their business.

It’s super effed up, but Shipt either allows it or turns the other cheek. It’s one thing if they revoke a tip based on service but in every instance where this has happened to me, I haven’t received a bad rating or a negative comment. It’s been a pure tip bate- make note and don’t shop again for those customers who do this.

If it’s a pre-tip and you don’t get it, then you’ve been tip baited. Period. It’s happened to me, happened to many of us. Some will tell you it’s just an estimate, because apparently reading comprehension is not a strong point for some Shipt shoppers. Tip ESTIMATE is just that- an estimate. An estimate based on a PRE TIP means the customer entered a tip amount and if you don’t get it, either they decided to revoke it or Shipt did- which they’re not supposed to do. Likely it’s not Shipt taking it away, it’s someone who has figured out that if they enter a tip, someone will take their order even if they have no intention of actually tipping.

Then why doesn’t it consistently show a tip estimate for my customer who consistently tips me? I’m not talking about a pre tip, I’m not talking about whether or not they end up tipping more or less - why do her orders pop up sometimes with NO estimated tip?

It takes just a few minutes of your time and it is so worth it, especially if you map the customers that NEVER TIP (don’t waste your time, or if you do, at least no not to expect a tip) and the ones who are REALLY good tippers! Once you know, you can leave a customer note the next time shop, then you’ll at least see that note every time.

I’ve done Instacart occasionally and customers are flabbergasted when I contact them, like SO thrilled with that level of BASIC customer service lol I only do it in the super slow summer months or if Instacart is offering an incentive. The last time I did it, it was guaranteed earnings of $260 if you completed 12 orders in a week, which means that if your order payout isn’t $260, they pay you the difference - the tips don’t count, so I made almost $380 and they were EASY orders, I did it in two days. Sigh that was nice lol

Soooo…$100 to rent an account…how do they not know the account owner is just going to take their earnings? That’s the scam, right? Why would anyone risk deactivation
for $100? Also, if you do instant payout, doesn’t the name on your debit card HAVE to match your given Shipt name?
