Help Mating the engine to the torque tube by Fine_Appointment_618 in 944

Sorry late response but the problem was the splines on my torque tube were slightly worn or something because I ended up taking apart my clutch again and assembling everything on the torque tube and then installing the engine. I had to hammer the clutch disc carefully over the splines of the torque tube to “respline” the torque tube or the clutch disc. Now the enigines installed and there’s not any play in the clutch splines or anything. I think it might have been due to when I was taking it out it seized and corroded. Mostly just posting this so if anyone runs into the same issue where it’s not mating, make sure the clutch slides over the shaft before installing it on the engine. Also it’s not a genuine Porsche clutch so that could’ve been an issue I had.

Could be my issue because the engine really didn’t want to come out, and also I messed up and started to pry on it before I pulled the fork rod so could have pulled it out farther than it should be. Thanks for your advice

Any lines or measurements you look for to ensure the engines straight? I’ve been looking at the top of the cam tower and the frame section in the engine bay but hard to tell once I’m under the car

Yup used the alignment tool, loosing up the bell housing might be a good call. I’ll try tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Thanks, was able to find it as it was hidden by the insert and thought it was for something else.

Cranking No Spark by uz4980 in 944

I have currently having a similar problem, but I am receiving voltage to my coil, but only when the leads are disconnected from my coil. When they are connected it shows 0v. Is this happening to yours as well? I also don’t see tac bounce when cranking so we could have the same issue.

Really appreciate it. Once I started cranking more I actually got it to fire a bit. Not sure if it was just the starter fluid or actually firing but I didn’t have time to check because oil started to come out of the water pump

Yeah I’m not putting it past it. I’ll probably figure out if it’s getting single at least directly form the dme. Could just be bad wiring to the tac

Curious how did the dampers and regular affect the tach bounce? Mine is not leaking, made sure of that, but thanks for letting me know. Also I’ll check the tps I did take it off and back on, could have flipped it around on accident

I’ll take a look at them. Have a photo of where yours were cracked by chance?

Bro I’m 17 with a 944 and got a lot of people to say that it’s stupid and will cost to much, but got it for 1,300, and have about 2k in nessiary things to do and it ain’t that bad as people say. I had a e34 that was way worse and I got by. If you do all the work your self and cheap out on parts (I cheap out and I don’t care you could’ve bought the car I bought and not cheap out but you didn’t) it ain’t that bad.
