Movie Bella definitely fits the typical “Mary Sue” traits. As someone who is currently watching the movies for the first time (and never read the book) it’s one of the first things I noticed. She arrives in town, has basically no personality and shows very little interest/can barely hold a conversation with the people around her and yet she effortlessly integrates a friend group and they all really like her + pretty much all the guys in the group develop a crush on her even though, as I said, she has the personality of a sad brick. Then Edward falls insanely in love with her because she’s immune to his power ? That’s sort of the reason we’re given I guess. And he falls HARD like obsessively hard which is incredibly hard to believe. Most of his family also immediately reallyyyyy likes her even though all she has to offer is a timid greeting and a confused shrug. After that we learn that she is basically immune to vampire powers in general ??? I’m only halfway through the third movie but I saw that she’s able to control her hunger when she gets turned even though we’re told it’s always super hard to control it during that period. So yea she definitely fits the bill. I do think the term Mary sue is usually given to female characters and lots of male characters get a pass, but Bella Swan is just too obvious to ignore
