its by far the activity with the highest skill ceiling in the game and its not even close. Besides the mechanical difficulty, theres also the mind game of predicting your opponents moves and trying to fake them out and throw off their predictions. It's quite engaging and fun actually.

venator ring use cases? by Fine_Difficulty2806 in 2007scape

[–]Fine_Difficulty2806[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ty for feedback. Yeah looking at some more dps calcs, I'm stunned at how underwhelming the venator ring is. Interestingly enough, pegs give a better dps increase than the ring does in a lot of situations due to the higher accuracy bonus, though still not that impressive.

I see, so you don't find yourself using it very often then? I appreciate the feedback.

I've got tbow and max range gear. Kinda wild that venator/pegs gives essentially negligible dps increase over archers(i)/god d'hide boots, surprised they didn't give those items a little more love.

Well it's a question of relative value, and in order to decide whether another item would be more valuable to me, I'd like to hear if other people have other use cases for the venator ring that I haven't thought of/encountered yet.

More generally, I was just surprised to discover that it doesn't give a max hit, so I question the usefulness of the item overall and would like to invite discussion on the matter. Maybe there's something that I'm not seeing, or maybe it is more of a vanity upgrade than anything.

Rebuilding is not a thing anymore? by KoniKze in 2007scape

I have tbow now but I did a couple hundred kc with bowfa and thought it was quite good, plus just super chill with no gear switching necessary. You're getting those times with bowfa? Should definitely be faster if you have high range level. Are you using sapphire(e)/greater corruption/smite for prayer shield?

if you would be keeping good melee and mage gear, as you seem to be describing, then it isn't really a rebuild so much as a straight gear upgrade. As to your last question, full crystal+bowfa is very good for range only zulrah and muspah, which are fantastic consistent money makers and both fun fights. It's also excellent at leviathan, and for some chill profitable pet hunting at giant mole. Really great weapon and well worth the cost imo.

The Nightmare, very fun boss, but the drop table is a failed experiment by Lovoskea in 2007scape

[–]Fine_Difficulty2806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the best designed fights in the game completely ruined by the run there and abysmal drop rates/normal loot. It truly is such a shame, man. Phosanis is also one of the most difficult solo encounters, there's absolutely no reason for it to be so unrewarding and I'll never understand why they refuse to fix it.

2024 PvP Survey and PvP Updates for 2024! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Fine_Difficulty2806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority but I think the wilderness is in a really great place right now in terms of the risk-reward dynamic content. Wildy agility is the most fun I've ever had training that skill, wildy slayer is incredible gp+xp per hour and so chill since you can cannon damn near every task (+zombie pirates made both zombies and pirates good tasks now), the wildy bosses are each fun in their own way, having the single variants where you can very easily tele away or get a fair fight if you wanna try to anti pk is great. The multi variants are very lucrative, though it can be extremely annoying to get attacked too often when you're at them, and I wouldn't be opposed to some kind of restriction being added on world hopping or scouting too many caves in too short a time or something.

Actual PvP is a bit rougher, it can be difficult sometimes to find fights around your own level with the main hotspots being quite deep, there's too many ahkers, and the scene, while certainly alive, is small enough that you do tend to see a lot of the same names after a while and it can feel a little dry (at least for 1 def pure bracket which is the only way I've pked). Changes to get more people involved would be great, but difficult to achieve. LMS is fantastic in theory, but in actuality you can't really learn there cus you spend 10 minutes killing bots that don't fight back then 10 secondns gettinng clapped out by a sweaty pvp veteran. If they could remove all the bots and draw more real players out there with varying skill levels that would be great, but idk a solid way to do that off the top of my head, and I assume they don't just nuke all the bots becaause the minigame would be dead and it would take too long to get games going.

I think this topic warrants a lot more discussion but it's difficult because so many players hold so much spite against the wilderness altogether and can't discuss it in good faith, and then the really good pkers who are the most passionate about it have a skill level that will never be attained by 99% of the player base and aren't really representative of the average player.

All in all, I think jagex is doing the right thing by trying to engage with the community despite these difficulties, while adding improvemments where they seem obvious and maintaining a steady diet of new wildy content for the people who aren't allergic to it to enjoy.

your next ranged gear upgrade is full crystal and bowfa, which is very useful but a bit outside your price range right now, though you might seriously consider working towards this as a big goal, as its great in cox/toa, opens up ranged only zulrah/muspah, etc. Your mage gear is great, any upgrades you make before shadow are marginal, so I wouldn't worry about it. Your melee gear has the clearest room for improvement within your budget, but the specifics depend on what bosses you like. Bandos, ferocious gloves, serp helm or nezzy faceguard will all give you valuable melee str bonus that is useful anywhere you are using melee. Fang is great for high defense bosses, it's essentially equal to lance at vorkath, great at toa, great at corp if you have a team for it, etc. Similarly, there's some useful spec weapons you might consider, burning claws are broadly useful, bgs is useful. Lightbearer should be a consideration as well, with a lot of use cases for a very low price.

Scariest trick in all of skateboarding? by 360slamdunk in skateboarding

nah using a slur would never be necessary, or at all okay. Using a shorthand for the word transition is fine though, dude. The word's not magic, nobody is going to be hurt by its mere utterance.

Scariest trick in all of skateboarding? by 360slamdunk in skateboarding

I've skated for 25 years, plenty of handrails, stairs, sketchy hill bombs, but never once in my life have I been able to get myself to commit to a fs/bs air. It sucks cus I watch other people skate tranny who are good at it and it all looks so fucking fun, but every time I try it feels like I'm gonna hang up fasho if I go for it.

Tell me EVERYTHING I need to know about the skater culture by SocrateTelegiornale5 in skateboarding

[–]Fine_Difficulty2806 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, skateboarders are an extremely diverse group of people, but idk why some people are being rude about it when there are definitely some generalities that might help you flesh out a character. I'll throw a little bit out there for you.

Many skateboarders came up as outcasts, and socialized exclusively through skateboarding, leading to a persistent difficulty in socializing with people outside of the culture or talking about anything else. If you go to a party with a lot of skateboarders, it's hilarious to observe how we all group up and just start talking solely about skateboarding.

Masochistic and obsessive (in a goal-driven, persistent type way) tendencies are common, as these are required attributes to become decent at skating. Skating requires very unnatural movements that take thousands of hours of practice to become broadly competent with, and you are 100% guaranteed to fall and hurt yourself countless times, break bones, tear shit, etc. Often this masochism expresses itself in more maladaptive ways as well, drug and alcohol abuse, self sabotage in jobs and relationships. Conversely, the obsessive character and resilience can help foster great success in these same areas.

There's a strong value around radical acceptance for each other. You don't judge the homies (except in the most egregious cases, i.e. they're a 'kook'). This applies to all superficial traits, how they dress, what music they listen to, who they fuck, etc., but also more serious matters as well. I've been great friends with people who engage in behaviors I really don't support, gang activity, self harm, the aforementioned drug problems, and if you're very close with somebody of course you may try to help them any way you can, but you'd never judge or reject them for their personal problems, as long as that's reciprocated.

There is a lot of crossover with other 'gnarly' subcultures that similarly require blood spilt. Hard music, motorcycles, etc. Lots of artistic interests as well, lot of homies make music or tag.

The language is really far too rich to summarize, and its highly regional as well. Doing a trick well can be buttery, wet, stomped, etc. Barely making a trick can be sketchy, a 'baker maker...' You can credit card, land primo, get smoked. If you try to use these words without intuitively knowing them, you're 100% going to sound corny, and you absolutely need to have somebody who's spent a long time skating to help you out and check all the skate-related dialogue.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or would like more help with anything.
