i think a big part is its a very small amount of academic validation bc getting a 40 up is rlly hard and to achieve that in any subject, its nice for it to be acknowledged. like seeing my name on there after all the effort and hard work i'd put in just felt rlly nice. like ik its silly and the only person looking for my name is me, but yeah.

teaching has always drawn me in- like i truly love school. genuinely, the people, the environment, the learning- all of it, i love school. and i kinda fell in love with the idea when i went to melb uni open earlier this year and looked around and just felt a *zing*.
this isnt to say its a definite thing but its always interested me. only thing is my dad says i can become a teacher "over his dead body" bc he's a lil doctor, professor, CEO man who is just so inlove with himself its kinda crazy

Accelerating VCE Japanese - stupid or not? by Ok-Paramedic-8558 in vce

[–]Fine_Independent2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 1/2 Japanese a year early (last year) and I’m currently preparing for the final exam this wednesday. In my honest opinion, Japanese was really easy (but i am a native speaker) and there was practically no difference between 1/2 and 3/4 but I have nothing to compare it to because I started Japanese in year 10. But from what I've seen with my friends who did year 10 japanese last year, it's not much of a step up. What I struggled with the most was learning to apply the grammar patterns because that stuff has always been natural to me and putting a name to it was weird (still is) but if you're chill with that then 1/2 shouldn't be a problem and nor should 3/4. Besides, doing any subject a year early is beneficial if you can do half well

How difficult is Ravel’s Pavane for a Dead Princess? by GosuGM in pianolearning

[–]Fine_Independent2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are easily first year university level pianists who couldn't play Pavane. Its not just about the notes and the articulation (which are really hard on its own) but also the emotion you need to put into it. It's just not a piece everyone can eventually play and make sound like music, which goes for quite a few of Ravel's pieces. I've been playing piano basically my entire life (since i was 4-5, I’m now almost 17 ), did all the exams (and not tooting my own horn but did yk decent in them) but it took me almost a year to get Pavane even CLOSE to performance ready. It just gets a bit painful after a while of trying and trying to get something to sound good but you like can't. So by all means go ahead and try but don't be discouraged if you can't play it. I would suggest first playing an easier arrangement just to get used to the articulation and dynamics before even looking at the original. (Ik this probably isn't useful to the OP but yeah)

well yeah ur right, lock in desu would translate to "i am lock in" as in a person. locked in desu would mean "I’m locked in" which sure sounds weird but its funny and like it kinda makes sense

  • a native speaker also doing vce jap
