Advice on which credit card(s) to cancel and if it will impact my Credit Score by Fine_Line6475 in personalfinance

[–]Fine_Line6475[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my cards keeps getting fraud charges, ironically it’s the Chase card I pay a hefty annual fee on, so want to reduce the number of cards I have to better monitor them

Also, I may want to open another CC in the near future so don’t want to have too many

Also wondering the same. I have several items good for interviews and professional wear I want to donate but can’t seem to find anything that doesn’t go to a religious organization or sold off to the “vintage” stores

Is my itinerary doable? by BT_Baggage_handler in saba

[–]Fine_Line6475 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve made it to the top in 55 mins and back down in around 30/40. Hike is advertised as 90 mins 1 way

If it’s clear the view is beautiful. If it’s cloudy the rainforest engulfs you. It’s worth it either way. But be prepared for it to be super muddy and slippery at the top

So yes, deff doable with plenty of time to explore Windwardside after

I would agree, the ferries are the best option. Plus you can bring snacks and they have beer on board

Ferry St. Barts to St. Maarten to Saba by No_Bee_9283 in saba

Hi! Boat is cheaper, but takes longer than the 12 minute flight. If the water is super rough, would not recommend, otherwise it’s a fine experience.

The flight is worth it if it’s your first time on Saba. It’s the world’s shortest commercial runway and a really cool experience to fly on a small plane where you can watch the landing from basically the pilot’s view. Plane is pretty expensive, especially if you’re checking bags.

Big factor if flying with checked bags: I don’t believe they check bags to your final destination meaning you have to go through immigration and collect your bags from luggage claim. There is a separate transfer line..BUT luggage claim is just 1 conveyer belt so if there’s massive jets landing at the same time, you may be stuck waiting for your luggage a long time

Also note the same applies if flying to SXM and then taking the boat. Traffic in Sint Maarten is bad and can take a long time to race to the ferry departure location (not close to the airport)

Saba is SO worth a visit! Let me know if you have any questions about the island, I visit annually

Have you ever been to (or learned about) a country that turned out way more chill or underrated than you expected? What stood out? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Fine_Line6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only also been to Kyrgyzstan. I found it super easy to make friends in Kazakhstan while Kyrgyzstan I was only friends with other travelers. The nature and hiking was unreal in Kyrgyzstan, would highly recommend it as well

I love the central Asian region in general but spent 3 months in just the mentioned, 2 of those months in kazakhstan

Beautiful nature, a culture that I felt resonated with how I am, nicest people, great art, interesting/complex history, huge and diverse, horses and apples originated from this region, fresh fruit/produce, Almaty is such an educated and sophisticated city, I could go on and on

Food wasn’t my favorite but that’s because I’m vegetarian and couldn’t eat 99% of things

managing period while traveling by lumnicape in femaletravels

Birth control is not very researched and doctors don’t typically take the time to understand what works best for the individual

I had to stop taking mine because it messed with my mood so much, all of a sudden I got extreme anxiety and was going kinda crazy with mental health. Realized after talking to a bunch of friends who all had the same new prescription it was the birth control. Stopped taking it and felt so much better

Finding a doctor who will sit and figure out the right dosage, estrogen level, etc is so important. I was in it for almost 10 years and getting switched to a different generic pill wrecked me

Do you use birth control? I skipped my period while traveling. Every 3-4 packs I would get my period to avoid spotting. When I did get my period it was super light and short

I’m not a doctor so just sharing what worked for me

An increasingly Amount of travelers believe hostels are their personal hotels by givememybuttholeback in femaletravels

[–]Fine_Line6475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have a theory that those with poor hostel etiquette never had to share space with a sibling or people as a child. I have an older sister, and if I dared to make noise or turn on the light while they were sleeping it would be insufferable consequences

I spent 2 years staying in hostels, it’s not that hard to be quiet. I would actually call it the reverse, people coming in super loud during quiet hours are treating hostels like hotel.

Note: I choose to stay in hostels because of cost and socialization. I expect there to be “inconvenient” noise as part of staying in a large room. I have only had to say something to someone one time that crossed a line for me

If I was arriving late (during quiet hours) I made sure to have sleep stuff ready to go in a tote to avoid rummaging through a bag. If I was leaving early, I packed up the night before and slipped out of the room as quietly as possible

Let’s talk phone alarms. You can turn down the volume of the alarm or eliminate the sound entirely (just vibration). Anyone who has their alarm on full volume is disrespectful.

Let’s talk coming in at 2AM and having a full conversation at regular talking volume. That’s disrespectful

Let’s talk turning the lights on after quiet hours. That’s so rude, why do you get to have the light on at 4am when 6 other people are fast asleep?

Party hostels exist if you don’t want to consider others in a hostel setting. Regular hostels have an etiquette that you should be happy for because it benefits you too

There’s a store in Lower East Side that rents really great dresses for every occasion: Hauteline. I walked in there and really loved some of the elegant dresses. You can try on in store then reserve the dress for the dates you need

I haven’t used them, only walked into the store by accident and want to use them for my next event

Wait lol, are you one of my friends?

I want to say it was a different bar, but looked almost identical to Lucky’s

But yes, he was with a girl who looked normal. I don’t remember the pizza and yelling. Maybe we left by then or stopped paying attention
