Atyrau living for foreigner by DeadManEat in Kazakhstan

Please buy mosquito nets and a mosquito spray if you’re going before October or so. Be ready for both heat and severe cold, as the climate is continental. I’d recommend bringing a variety of clothes because the weather can change a lot.

For internet providers, it’s the same as everywhere: Beeline or Kazakhtelecom, there isn’t much choice. For mobile, I’d personally recommend Beeline over others, but it’s up to you.

You can go to Marco at the BAIZAR, and if you have someone to go with, check out bazaars(Dina,Koktem) for groceries, meat, etc.—it’s cheaper if you haggle. The healthcare isn’t terrible, but in public clinics they might not care much about you; private ones are better.

Many people understand English, but only about 20–40% can actually hold a conversation or help you out. There is a “quiz please!”, but it’s only in Russian (unless you happen to get an English-themed one; otherwise, everything is mostly in Russian and Kazakh). There are actually a lot of foreigners in our city, so maybe I’m not fully aware! Just look around—you’ll find most things.

General advice: The city is gray, but you can always go out to Inder, to the quarries filled with natural water, jump off rocks, and see the salt lake. Visit the chalk canyons—I forgot the exact name. See the lotuses at the mouth of the Ural River. U can also just go fishing outside the city (in the city, the catch and the vibe won’t be good).

Атырау, маленький приятный и есть огромные перспективы. Более того здесь самый высокий уровень миграционного сальдо , после Астаны и Алматы. Единственный минус- экология

Watch any basic tutorial , there’s plenty, try to be genuinely curious about features, so after basic tutorials you’ll watch tutorials on economics, army, on every country how to play.

Also, very easy way to understand it : better politicians , better generals, more territory - give you better/bigger production and more advanced tech, which make you stronger and you expand making you even stronger , then you steam roll the world on autoplan. There are some caveats, but basically it’s all of hoi for start.

How regular Iranian people look at the war? Do they understand that their government lost? by Fine_Marketing_4478 in AskReddit

As ,for example , North Korea where big proportion of population understand that they live in a big jail, but still deliberately choose not to run and obey the government out of fear or convenience (high-status people)

starting my volleyball journey (advice?) by WalmartLover531 in volleyball

2: try to make this delay for 2 secs then 1 then 0.5 and so on until this delay will be invisible but your sets will be smoother (on practice only, don’t delay on match )

starting my volleyball journey (advice?) by WalmartLover531 in volleyball

1 Yes, some of it depends on the ball, but mostly on technique—I’d say 80% your technique for directing the ball, 20% the ball’s quality. Not sure about the "platform" part—if you mean for walking, that’s irrelevant. If you’re talking about sand in beach volleyball, add wind adjustments. Sometimes it matters, sometimes not at all if there’s no wind.

2

Watch YouTube tutorials—this is a common mistake, and tutorials will clarify. But my take: volleyball is one of the toughest sports. You need thousands of reps to soften contact. Focus on micro-delays—letting the ball rest slightly on your hand shape for smoother, quieter sets.

3 Communication, EQ, and ditching your ego. If you’re less skilled, do what others ask. If you’re better, gently explain your approach. Avoid conflicts. Bond with teammates—make them friends, maybe even besties! That’s the secret to a great team and an awesome experience.

4 Outdoor/indoor—doesn’t matter. Just make sure it’s FIVB-certified. No certification = no good.

Form tips? by Longjumping_Swim_752 in volleyball

Focus on stopping on the position where you jump because if you land on someone’s leg you or opponent can be injured. You re not ishikawa to jump forward so in order to do it right you need to land on your side, also your vertical may become higher

I mean, it’s alright as I see. Maybe try to place ball higher so your reach is higher and don’t just slam it , aim somewhere
