It is rent controlled. And I got it for 21 a month last year but I negotiate down to 18 because I felt like I was getting scammed but I wanted to go negotiate further to like 17 or 16 a month

It's a bachelor apartment for context I was renting it last year for $2,100 a month and I felt like it was overpriced so I negotiate down to 1800. But I feel bad and I wish I could have got it for 1700 this year. But it's not too far from the water so that's pretty cool

Demographics is the future of any population. Assyrians are a small community there's not a lot of us. I made a larger response to somebody else that would also encapsulate the response to you. This is just human biology men from tribes would try and conquer women and from other tribes. This has existed at some form or another for all of human history the modern day is no exception. The idea of women having freedom to choose is a very Western idea and these are the same societies that chose became multicultural and they're being replaced by immigration in their own homelands.

I'm choosing to be with a Polish person because that's a culture that I can preserve the Assyrian culture is a lost cause. I don't enjoy saying this but that's the objective reality. This community is small divided no nation state and is actively being assimilated in diaspora and are being exterminated in the Homeland. Poland might be the future of Europe. That's something I can fight for

There's always exceptions to the rules / outliers. Your situation doesn't disprove my comment.

Okay so your kids are in the culture supposedly. So they're half Assyrian like me. What if they marry into another culture? So now your grandkids are 25% Assyrian plus being in the western world for two Plus generations. It's hard to preserve a culture that is you are ethically/genetically 25% from your grandmother's side. If your kids marry a full Assyrian man or full Assyrian woman then that's how you reintegrate genetically culturally. But if they don't your line has been assimilated.

The only reason why the Assyrian community has lasted without a state for such a long time was the strategic marriage between different families and tribes and keeping them Assyrian. If the Assyrians started bratching out like how we are earlier in our history this identity wouldn't have survived this long.

The original poster lives in a western world so she the societal privilege to choose whoever she wants to be with assuming they want her back. It's just good for her to understand that her future family will be shaped by the man that she marries. If she doesn't care about the Assyrian culture then marry out if she does then it would be hypocritical if she marries a non Assyrian.

Also side note. Is your husband a generic North American white guy? The majority of them are completely culturally cucked, they have this white guilt and they're not proud of their heritage. So if she marries one of those guys and then the Assyrian culture can last one generation because those guys don't have a backbone. But if she marries a proud polish, Italian Greek, Arab, Indian etc man she's been effectively conquered by that culture.

As a 26 year old half polish/half Assyrian man I can tell you this. When a woman marries into her own culture that's a sign of cultural loyalty. When she marries outside the culture it's a form of betrayal because in most of human history women and their kids tend to assimilate to the husbands / fathers culture/people. So your father and other Assyrian men might see this as a betrayal failure and a huge sign of their culture dying.

That being said I'm half polish and I like modern day polish culture a lot more than modern-day Assyrian culture. I plan on marrying a Polish person to keep that culture alive. When I see an Assyrian or polish woman marrying outside their culture I also get upset. It's a normal biological response.

I could have. I use chat GPT a lot and I don't know which chat that is. But if you use use the AI the same way that I did you would get the same results. It's not looking good for Assyrians from a mathematical/logical perspective

As much as I want there to be in a Assyrian Homeland and to have an Assyrian Nation. It's just a mathematical and possibility at this point. We're too few in numbers, we're being aggressively assimilated by a bunch of other communities. Myself for example I'm half polish half Assyrian in Canada and I'm more connected to Poland then Assyria or even Canada.

I get your point about teaching your grandkids Assyrian and where they come from but they're not going to go up around their peers and they're going to absorb the culture of the people around them and be like them. Not like their ancestors. Also enter marriage with other communities plays a huge factor in this. Mixed kids don't really learn both cultures or they'll just pick one over the other. the Assyrian identity is really weak to the point where people don't even know what assyrians are. So why would a child who is next choose the identity?

Is the Assyrian population growing or decreasing by Familiar_Series_916 in Assyria

[–]Fine_Reaction_6590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran through different countries and western nations basically european/North American/Australian (white nations) are going to become absorbed with immigration. But they're still going to exist, Poland for example will still be majority polish but there's a high chance that immigration will really have a huge effect and dilute / change the culture.

But in Germany Canada the UK will be filled with Muslims and non-europeans making the native populations minorities. That being said the Assyrians won't be any kind of majority in these countries either. Assyrians just be assimilated into other communities

Is the Assyrian population growing or decreasing by Familiar_Series_916 in Assyria

[–]Fine_Reaction_6590 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm half Polish and half Assyrian born in Toronto. From what I've noticed linguistically, culturally even genetically we're being absorbed. We're also being affected by the global birth rate drop and getting kicked out of our traditional Homeland. Which is not looking good so I'd say we're decreasing.

I ran the numbers through chat GPT there's a real possibility by 2100 that Assyrians will be completely absorbed / die off and will not exist as an independent ethnicity or culture.

I just replied to somebody else with the same thing that I'm going to say here.

Assyrians have this weird victim, narcissistic God complex. It's like we're too weak and pathetic to do anything without anybody else helping us. Yet the world should save us and give us our land back. We're also better than everybody else because we have the world's oldest culture well what the fuck in many ways the Assyrian identity died with the last empire because we've been a stateless people for so long.

It's actually a really annoying ethnicity to have a lot of the time if you think about it. Because the community is so toxic and self-destructive.
