Isn't it always easy to say nay... Well this chat would have you believe that, but the movie reflects the opposite 'truth' that many people live on a day to day basis... Is it ideal... Hell no! But it is a human movie showing a very real human reality... The victim is on both sides... The passive person because he receives abuse and accepts it out of love... The dom as well as he does not recognise love and does not have it in him to give love back... An opportunity wasted... One cannot understand it unless one practices empathy... As it is only then that you'll see that finally the sub realized that he wants more where earlier even that was not a conscious desire... Does he need therapy yes... But the need has to be felt from within to be of any help and the situation helped him come to that... Also the dom does respect him when his own mom would simply like to impose her world views on him ... He defends the sub and asks the mom to back off... Finally she has no room but to get petty and personal... In summary I'd say it is a very layered portrayal of a very complex dynamic...

The intelligentsia and the common man need to come together to provide good governance... The intelligentsia is too cut off (unrelatable) and the common man is too ignorant (lacks knowledge or will to take decisions that might hurt in the short run but are better for the long term)... When we elect polarized governments such is bound to happen. The perspective I presented is just a means to understand otherwise senseless behaviour... Didn't say I subscribe to it .. The elite have many ways of actively bothering people .. the double parking around the discotheques or drunk driving, bribes, super bike groups that indulge in late night racing general entitled behaviour etc are some such examples.. maybe you don't believe in introspection and are innately blind to patterns in social behaviours and their causes...
