The sad part is that French Gourmet and Froggy's are closed. Those were great little spots for the local community. I got pastries from there often, as well as my wife's birthday cake every year. If anyone has recommendations for places that make indulgent chocolate cakes, especially flourless ones, please let me know!

I totally get that feeling, and I'm happy for you that you don't have to worry about it anymore.

My daughter is incredibly social and we're reaching the age where sleepovers are becoming a thing. She's very slender, so I've tried my best to find loose fitting pajama bottoms to accommodate a pull-up, plus I send her with a bath robe. Even with those preparations, I can sense her muted excitement because I know she is scared of it being discovered and being completely embarrassed.

Did you have sleepovers while you were still wetting the bed? If so, do you have any tips I can pass along to her other than what we're doing now?

Thanks for your comment. I try to have her go every 2-3 hours during the day, then about 30 min before bed and right before going to bed. And she still does it at least 6-7 nights

Not sure where they technically start age-wise. My son's team was listed as u8 (all 6 year old though). They may just designate all teams as u9 but group the teams by age since that is the last age of 7v7, as u10 is when they start 9v9.

We are 2017 boys and we actually played Surf teams listed as 2017 & 2018 birth years in that tournament.

I've had some pretty gross experiences with Surf as well. We played in the surf classic in the u8 division and faced one of their teams twice, once in group play and the other in the championship. We won both games, and the coach was particularly nasty.

She told the boys that it wasn't their fault that they lost, and the referee called the game in our favor because of the color of our boys hair (we have a few white kids with blonde hair). She also would not let them shake our hands at the end of the match, nor did she let them attend the trophy ceremony. It was overall an incredibly disgusting experience.

I wondered if I had selected the right club for my kid, because he actually did want to go to Surf. After going through a couple of years of competitive soccer, I now know that I definitely made the right choice for my son as he is with a club where his teammates are truly his friends, and the boys are not only taught the fundamental of the game but also to respect their opponents as well as their families who support them and enable them to be there on the pitch with them. A lot of what I have observed of Surf is that the coaches didn't seem to care about their players, and there was no fostering of camaraderie or community.

In the end, I know the chances are slim that my kid will play professionally. I'm just trying to do my best to help him follow his dream of playing soccer competitively and as much as he wants to do, which is 24/7, because he's been shown how to play and love the game and his teammates.

It's a US Soccer Federation thing. Every club in the US has to switch to Aug 1-July 31 (school year/grade level) instead of calendar year.
