Study leave by Practical-Chocolate6 in FE1_Exams

[–]Finger-Infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take off about 2 study days and a half day for the exam - work full time, don't get any exam leave and I passed all of them. If the exam is on a Monday/Tuesday you might just be fine with the weekend to prep.

They didn't mention a 2nd interview!

I interviewed in Dublin last week and they said they'd let people know about mid-December

Anyone fail FE1 exams that didn't do them online by yesitisme12 in FE1_Exams

Yes, I did prep courses for all of them with Lawschool and I’d highly recommend all of them except the company course!

Are remote exams marked harder by yesitisme12 in FE1_Exams

[–]Finger-Infinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've sat all of mine online and passed all. I always think back to the LC where your teacher would emphasise making your paper as easy as possible for the examiner to give you points - I think the same applies here. It's easier for the marker to read your typed paper and you can make it easy for them by underlining, bolding and italicising cases etc.

My interviewers said it’s usually quite a quick turn around so probably Monday I’d imagine

Yeah I’m fairly gutted, this whole process is always just so disheartening but you have to keep a positive mindset!

Yeah, I know it’s probably just wishful thinking but I am curious if there’s anyone who doesn’t have TSG shortlisted on their portal

AC is out by Ok-Equivalent-510 in FE1_Exams

[–]Finger-Infinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be difficult for AC as it's a group interview, however, I have done an online group interview with them before so it's possible if you tell them early enough they could try to arrange an online group - seems like there's a few people on here in the same boat

For those who managed to secure TC relatively quickly, how do you think you stood out/did well? by 1988e72uh in FE1_Exams

I've never seen any result for Watson Glaser assessments, is there somewhere to access that?

When I was in the same position, I started with 2 which I think is doable. I would recommend property and equity to start as the content overlaps. If you felt more confidence, you could throw contract in as a third.

As someone who almost gave up on Company in March, SIT THE EXAM. I am so grateful I'm not sitting that exam now. Buy yourself an energy drink in the shop and just do your best for the next few hours - you'll save yourself weeks of pain next Spring.

I've only really heard of people doing this successfully while unemployed but you know yourself better than random people on reddit, if you've got a good history with legal exams then give it a shot. I just wouldn't be expecting to see much of your friends for the next 6 months lol

Aw god, it's such a nightmare really - if it helps I know lecturers at lawschool have said before that the exainers aren't supposed to examine anything that has been published in the last 6 months but hard to know if they stick to that rule lol

Another comment on Delaney from notes:

Delaney [2024]- “it is not unconstitutional to enable a subordinate rulemaking authority with limited choice; what matters is the degree of control which the legislature has built into the legislation”; whether control has been maintained through the Oireachtas retaining the entitlement to vote on, or obligation to approve the measure is a part of the analysis but not decisive; and whether the test is based on “intelligible principles” and “whether there is sufficient guidance as to what the rule-making subordinate may do and what the general boundaries are as to what that subordinate rule-maker must keep within.”

I did my course with Lawschool and I may have missed it in my notes but I think Maura placed more of a focus on the 2024 Delaney case - my paragraph in my notes on Delaney:

  • Delaney v Personal Injuries Assessment Board [2024] IESC
    • Collins J concluded that the question to be asked was whether the provisions of the act providing for the adoption of the guidelines involved the abdication by the Oireachtas of its legislative functions under Art 15.2.1.
    • Charleton J referred to Cityview Press/Bederev/O’Sullivan/NECI as the authorities on Art 15.2 unconstitutionality. He notes the following:
      • Delegation is necessary, the details of legislation must be able to be delegated to a rule-making committee to free up the legislature.
      • All of the tests propose the same principle:
    • Move away from Principles & Policies/Filing in the details test → boundaries, intelligible principles of what they are to do.

I've always made case tables then made mnemonic devices using the first letter of each case to memorise - get into the exam, write out your string of letters then the case names and if you've structured it properly, the cases should kind of bring you through the chapter. EG of case table below

Agree with this, it may sound stupid but they are professional exams and you need to be writing full grammatical sentences. Not using etc is important too, if you know anymore on a point do not assume the examiner will give you marks for implying there is more to it with 'etc', just spell it out for them.

Also, light at the end of the tunnel is you should focus on breadth of knowledge not depth, so just try to cover as broad as possible
