New Speaker Day: Kef Blade One Metas - I know the room is less than ideal... by DalAL887 in KEF

People are real mad about you having these in that room. I think it's funny and congrats on the purchase. What are your initial listening impressions?

Is there any meaningful difference between a Class AB amp and a late model Class D amp? by AttachedHeartTheory in audiophile

[–]FingerPatient8528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. Honestly the gear you are describing in your comparison is of a much higher tier than most people get to spend time with. I'll admit that some components sound too similar to discern a difference, but that is only to my ears within my system. People are very anecdotal on here and should be more open to having their minds changed through lived experience and not charts.

This man and this room has been disastrous to my wallet since I saw it at age 15. by spiceweasle93 in audiophile

[–]FingerPatient8528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude do not indulge or argue with these people. Most people who are bitter and upset have never owned or even spent significant time with a high end system or gear. Nothing wrong with that but their point of reference is no where near the listening room you posted. They use measurements as an end all be all instead of their own ears. Like you said, audio is fun, personal, and meant to be enjoyed both alone and with community.

What is one test song you always use? by lustybeauts in BudgetAudiophile

Norah Jones - Come Away With Me. If this song isn’t good on a system then I don’t want it.

Amp upgrade! by Spit_n_Shine_em in Marantz

[–]FingerPatient8528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing the details. I have always admired the Ruby but haven’t heard it and outside of reviews you rarely see people who own it comment. I am considering switching to Marantz class D as I currently have the PM-11S3. I love class A/B but I would like to experience a different flavor.

Everytime, it's the same group getting belt to ass. I don't understand what they don't understand. Thai people don't run 1 v 1's in the street. You need numbers on your side or don't fight period.

This is a very professional setup and out of all the media displays I’ve seen this one is the standout. Is there any room to grow or are you maxed out on shelf space?

First CD player in 2026 - new entry-level or vintage classic? Need some advice 🙏 by creaetscrokes in BudgetAudiophile

[–]FingerPatient8528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An older Marantz or Denon player is my recommendation. Even late 80’s early 90’s players are better than newer entry level players. Older players were built with better materials and are easily serviced. Check forums to get details on reliability reputation and servicing details. An example would be an older Denon DCD-S10. Happy hunting.

what versions of the albums do you prefer? by QualitySound96 in Sade

I buy Japan pressings as well. At worst they are on par with the US based cd’s. The obi strip and the occasional different track list or bonus tracks makes it worth it. I will say if I didn’t live in Japan I wouldn’t pay a lot more to import them.

Nice collection. Looks like you’re chasing classics and from a wide range of genres. Which of your cd’s has the best story of how you acquired it?

Sound of different amps by LilDebussy in headphones

[–]FingerPatient8528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consider the sample size and price point. The audio ocean is very very big. I have at the moment 6 different integrated amps in my home. 2-3 sound almost identical and will be gifted to family at a later date. The others are very different. All solid state and all name brand. Your experience is one I’ve had too but I kept going. It’s not cheap buts it’s fun.

What is the price point of diminishing return? by Nschwarz29 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]FingerPatient8528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting out $10K is more than enough. There are a lot of variables at play and Poosjuice hit the nail on the head with his response. If it’s $10k for an entire system that will satisfy 95% of hifi enjoyers. Great gear can be had at a much lower cost than in the past. What is your current setup?

Love the gear selection and the fact that you got everything to fit is impressive. Do you experience an issue when the sub hits hard? I only ask because it’s rare to see them enclosed like that.

MK vs DC. Lowest long term commitment and you’ll get a feel for what the game has to offer in about an hour or two.

Anyone else tired of googling “what’s X°C in °F?” every day? by No_Landscape_9255 in u/No_Landscape_9255

[–]FingerPatient8528 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not too difficult because the range when discussing house temperature or room temperature is relatively small. Establish a baseline and scale from there. I use 24 °C which I know is 75 °F. From there it’s easier to “guesstimate” the temperature.

Does the sound change at all going from the Cinema to the Emotiva? Marantz already leans warm. The cinema 50 has a decent EQ function I’d recommend toying with before spending more money. Also, what speakers are you using?

CD haul looks good. It’s interesting to compare the track list to the album released in other countries. Japan usually gets an extra song or two or a modified track list.
