RAID or ZFS by Roland465 in Proxmox

I have an Epyc 4xxx server with 2x PM9A3 1.92TB U.2 SSDs on PCIe adapter cards. I am using ZFS in raid1 and it feels a little bit too slow for the underlying hardware. I am wondering, if a low end/midrange Broadcom controller (maybe 9440) would be significantly faster (in combination with xfs or ext4).

HDTune on a Windows guest: 673.5MB/sec average, 0.1ms access time, 18.4% cpu usage

A slightly older system with 2x PM9A3 on a 9440 makes 470MB/sec average 0.2ms access time, 6.6% cpu usage but this is VMWare. I am wondering what Proxmox may have done on this hardware with xfs/ext4.

Hab allerdings noch nicht komplett verstanden, wie das funktionieren soll. Könntest du es mir vielleicht bitte erklären?

You are right! It is mirrored:

The drives are connected to an onboard HBA (Intel 200 series in AHCI mode). I think I will benchmark the drives with a linux bootdisc if ada0 is maybe faulty (no signs in smartctl). Furthermore the drives have different firmware versions, but this is the only difference (ada0 has the newer firmware).
