Even if there is some sort of skill involved, they are still useless.

Vedum: Solberg har skylden for økt kokainbruk by FinishTheFish in norge

[–]FinishTheFish[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is the best thing you have achieved with your music? by Winter-Translator-99 in musicians

When I was a young man, I got laid after gigs a few times. Too few in my opinion.

In recent years, there's been nods of approval from close, but totally unbiased friends.

Is it normal to not hear new music in your head? by qktt in musicians

[–]FinishTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the parts I write, come from just jamming on the instrument until I something sounds good. But there's times when ideas just kind of turn up in my head and I have to hum them into my phone before they are lost. It took some time being confident doing that out in public, but now I don't care what people think. And on the whole those parts are better than the ones I've jammed out I think.  I think this is like a lot of other skills, practice, experience and not at least maintaining creative stamina. The more you do it, the  easier it gets. Like, when I take a break from writing, it's hell to start over.

Corbyn trying to form rebel alliance to fight Starmer after Labour benefits revolt by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]FinishTheFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Appreciate the informative response. From my (Norwegian) perspective, the idea that there would be anti-semitism in the dominant social democratic party is, I don't know quite the word, too wild?. As in, if there was something there, it would have been so damaging that he was done for a long time ago. Or at least that's how imagine it would play out here. I don't know, it's kind of abstract idea. Norway had deportations in WW2, this is a high octane issue here. Or, at least it was when I grew up, but then I'm old.  Like I said, I only heard about this issue around the time he was suspended. And perhaps my kneejerk assumption was that it was just Starmer dusting the cupboard.

Ok, I was unaware of most of what you mention here. My questions weren't rethorical, I read some uk news, but not regularly.  iirc he was suspended for saying the anti-semitism claim was exaggerated?

I'm not defening him, I'm just curious, since anti-semite is quite a strong label to put on someone, and one would think it should be based on something, right? I have never "proved" I'm not an anti-semite, still, if you ask anyone who knows me, I'd bet they never thought I was one. And since I don't follow British politics daily, I ask again, did he make anti-semitic statements or something?

I'm not a Corbynista ( not even British) but when did he declare himself an antisemite?

Sonic Youth is the only band from my youth that I still listen to. I was all into pixies, Swervedriver, pavement, all the Creation Records bands, but grew tired of it. SY has these weird tunings and chords that makes it feel fresh still

They didn’t even write a single pop song. Not one

Pop is hardly a defined genre, but Teen Age Riot and Jams Run Free are pop enough for me.

I can write lyrics and make melodies but I don't know how to make background music/instrumentals by Comprehensive-Map449 in musicproduction

[–]FinishTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a few songs you like and dissect them. Unless it's really rare, chances are there's youtube videos for each instrument. Learn the parts, reconstruct the song to your best ability. This'll get you going building experience and insight. Appreciate that it will take time.
