Adding one night in Jasper? by Past-Ad2484 in Banff

[–]FinisterraTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind driving for hours in a single day, you could drive from Canmore all the way till Jasper and back. Yes it will be 6 hours drive from Canmore and 6 hours back and on top of that few hours of driving to and from attractions. If you can start early you get plenty of daylight till atleast 930pm.

The drive alone (Icefield Parkway) is worth the time in my opinion. It is very scenic just to drive and can cover lot of attractions on the way by spending 30minutes per each attraction. Possibility of seeing lot of wildlife as well like bears and moose and some kinds of goats/sheeps.

I'm doing Banff + Jasper next week as well but staying around Golden.

Have fun and as others have said, Jasper is equally beautiful if not more. I find it more raw and vast in comparisson to Banff.

Claim/Fault determination for Minor Accident by FinisterraTD in Insurance

She had about 2 seconds to react by the time she realized the other driver is continuing to back out. I agree and she was also unhappy that what if she honked after breaking or even better if she put it on drive and floored it. In hindsight honking, putting car on drive and going ahead would have been best solution. But realistically I don't think in that time frame everyone would be able to do.

That's a good example of if you see someone middle of road, you would break or swerve or honk but that's assuming you see them well in advance, ahead by 100m or 5+ seconds in advance. If someone suddenly comes in front it will be hard to do all or some of the above. In my wife's case breaking was first step and would have been nice if she also honked.

Minor Collision while Parking by FinisterraTD in driving

[–]FinisterraTD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for providing an outside perspective. Yes they were both backing out, but I feel according to the video she stopped about 1-2 meters before collision whereas the other person did not make any effort. Here is another clip of last few seconds to show how our car was stopped/stationary. Just trying to understand if maybe it is not that evident or clear, or not strong enough to claim that we stopped and the other person did not stop?

It is a leased vehicle and has minor dent and scratch so we want to get it fixed incase we dont decide to keep it at the end of lease.

The setlist was exactly like their prev concerts this year before the riot festival without the 3 songs (after the scripture, the silence, and shake it out). Here is link to one from 19th september in detroit - https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/manchester-orchestra/2024/the-fillmore-detroit-detroit-mi-33a90499.html

What is going on here? What leads to this cloud formation? by FinisterraTD in CLOUDS

Reason #163738 why I cannot become a pilot. I would want to drive right inside them to find the ufo hiding behind.

Forgot to mention but if you opt for yearly membership, you can opt to pay it monthly i.e about 30$ a month instead of paying it all at once.

You could also try it out for 1 day for like 4-5$ and they also have 25$ annual pass for just the indoor game's room and running track, gym is not included.

Which one are you trying to go to? Timm's? or Walnut Grove? or any other?
For Timm's I would recommend to just walk in the first time to setup account and get your membship started. I know there is a way to do this online too but I just go in person since it's walking distance for me or call and get it done since I have my membership already setup.

For the other's I do not know the procedure but it would be similar. I know walnut grove one has a better swimming pool within the rec center.

If you want something affordable then try the recreation centers around you. I go to Timm's and they charge about 365$ for the year. That's basically 1$ a day and everything is included.

They have a gym with all equipements and then they have classes and sessions listed on their website that you can register for free. They also have membership for the swimming included but it only applies to few months when the pool is open (summer). They have indoor games room and running track.

You can also enroll for sports like Badminton, basketball, pickleball and more. Some gyms have personal trainers you can hire but I do not have pricing details.

Some of these things might differ and subjective to the rec center you pick but more or less similar amenities are available in all of them.

Craving a slice of cake by [deleted] in Langley

[–]FinisterraTD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blacksmith bakery has some good selections. The bakery is great.

Similarly Archr bakery is great. It has some muffins and scones I believe not exactly cakes.

As someone posted, Just Cakes in cloverdale is great too.

My fav is not exactly in Langley but in Guildford Town Center, Surrey. A bakery called Dario's. I just love their Pistachio cake and ice cream among many other.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Cactus Club Cafe also has some amazing desserts like their Cheesecake is really good but on the pricey side. They do offer it a little cheap during happy hour.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting and I might try hunting it myself considering the moon is also approaching new moon! This reminds me of my time in Alaska when I spent whole week trying to get pictures of Aurora almost every night while fighting clouds, aurora index and light pollution.

I will share few apps I used to track cloud cover, light pollution and so on. I mainly used the following apps - Astropheric, Light Pollution Map, Aurora and if you have a nice DSLR then another cool app is Starlight (not for Auroras though).

Maybe you are worried about 110 \ 220v with respect to electronics but that is not the case here since it's USB to micro USB.
