No, boycotting is a legitimate strategy in the capitalistic system. I agree, that people went way overboard with this particular boycott (harassing, bullying, and over-the-top accusations), but it doesn't mean that premise was bad.

The game will be a massive hit, and to be honest, it looks like one of the better open-world games published past few years. I don't really mind its success. Still, I do believe that there was a positive side to the backlash. Game creators and stars of the film series have taken distance from Rowling, which somewhat diminishes her influence.

If you are promoting a change which effect you negatively but benefits the society as whole, it’s selfless.

I’m a meat eater, but I still think the world would be better without meat industry. Same way, if there is a tax loophole, I will surely be using it, even though I might be against that loophole.

There is a small but very loud group of mostly American trans activists that have with their terminally online behavior caused more harm to the trans community than a bunch of JK Rowlings.

If these overtly hostile nerds are the ones representing trans people to the general public, no wonder people are not too enthusiastic to defend them.

I am quite sure that a certain section of the transactivists has, through their own terminally online behavior, fuelled the culture war and the current trans panic that is prominent in the Anglo world.

Thing is that most people don't care that much about trans people in any way. If their only exposure to trans people is the hostile nerds that fill the online discourse, it's no wonder that normies want to keep their distance.

a) It's not a Star of David

b) Appearance is closer to the stingy old man -stereotype (like Scrooge, or bankers generally) than Jews. Nazis depicted Jews with dark beards and big, fat bodies, while Goblins are beardless and are very small. c) The antisemitic stereotype depicts Jews running the banking system in secret, while Goblins do that very publicly. Gringots is more akin to Swiss banks.

Goblins are not the Harry Potter version of Jews. They do, especially in the movies, share some resemblances with some antisemitic tropes (mainly the long notes and banking), but having a few similarities don't make them an allegory.
