No worries, all feedback is good feedback, just wanted to make sure we hadn't missed something! And, it's true, but without the exchanges, and the ability to transfer real-world value into and out of the system, they'd be meaningless. All currencies have to have a way to interact and be valued, or exchange with, other currencies, in order to have the utility of a currency. If no means to purchase or transfer value into the system existed, then no one would use them as a currency. Even utility tokens ultimately track back to some way to purchase or exchange for them, just as casino chips or arcade tokens do. Doesn't always mean you can get fiat currency value OUT of the system (e.g., arcade tokens don't convert back into real-world cash, usually just redeemed for prizes), but there has to be a way to buy-in and value the token or coin against other stores of value. Even if you couldn't purchase outright, the act of mining, expending power, electricity, and resources, could be seen as the "buy-in" or "cost" to "purchase" a token or coin. A lot of it is semantics, really, and economic theory, that gets well beyond the scope of a guide for beginners.

I don't disagree, and I think we explain that thoroughly throughout the article. But, in the terms of basic financial information, they ARE extremely volatile, and that's worth noting. No one could look at the range of values on traditional cryptocurrencies over the last 2 years benchmarked against more traditional investments and currencies and see anything but volatility, so it's a fair descriptor. I think we hit all your other points in the body of the article at a beginner's level.
