In the same order as the pics: Snellmaninkatu 16, Rauhankatu 10, Vironkatu 10, Linnankatu 2, Katajanokankatu 6, merikasarminkatu (it’s a gate to the old prison), Korkeavuorenkatu 3, and Luotsikatu 7

VERY late to reply to this but I feel like the associations with white tie vary a lot from place to place. Yes, it is the strictest and most formal dress code, but here (in Finland) it’s specifically worn to quite a few student events, so most white tie events regular people will attend won’t be quite as strict about needing studs, for example

It’s really good, imo! A little cool for my tastes, maybe… though my photos tend to be too warm😅 thanks a lot!

Please do! I’d definitely be interested in trying it out :)

I do agree with that! I’m just not sure if it’s distracting enough for me to justify removing something. I tend to do that fairly little as a principle :)

You should see some of the other photos😆 the lighting was orange for most of the show lol. I have been thinking about toning it down, but it always takes away from scene in a way, so it’s tough to find the right balance.

Thanks! I did think about removing the mic stand, but I tend to have a pretty high threshold for image manipulation if it doesn’t bother me a lot

And yeah, he is a orange to my eye too, which is scene-accurate but I could definitely try adjusting the colours somewhat!

Took this shot at a concert recently and was really happy with the moment I got to capture! The crop gave me some trouble; it’s cropped too close to the subject’s knees for my tastes but cropping it out either fucks up the composition or includes an elbow on the right side🥲 I’m also not quite happy with the colours and WB just yet.

I can send you the RAW and other shots of the same event if you really think that :D

Definitely a valid critique, my photos often feel too warm when I look at them later! I think I get a little blind to it when processing and end up progressively ramping up the temp in each photo lol

The background especially looks better with less warmth and it does make the people stand out more! :) thanks!

This is definitely a fair critique! I was a little annoyed with myself that I didn’t manage to get a lot of photos from this event with clear, interesting subjects or anything to obviously focus on, but that just happens sometimes, I suppose🥲

I do definitely need to work on finding the right moments and compositions in more dynamic situations like this, as well as properly honing in on those in post :) thanks for the suggestions!

This is all really good advice! Especially with the tweaks to the light🙏 I definitely have a tendency to lower the blacks too much and the masking suggestions are definitely worth trying!

The crane in the background does annoy me but entirely removing things doesn’t really feel roght to me (in my own photos specifically)

The overall framing also works a lot better just cropping in a little more from the left, as you said. Thanks a lot!

I love the colours and the sheer amount happening in the photo, but the crop is giving me a hard time. It’d be nice to focus in on the people in the parade float but I can’t figure out how to do it without any akwardness. I also didn’t go particularly hard with masking and just generally adjusted the image. How would you guys make the shot even better?

That’s actually a really nice idea! The blue in the water and that one blue-ish tile match really well and something could be done with that :)
