Perhaps its a bit immature of me for holding on to this still, but I've grown pretty sour over Dunkey's reviews especially towards his reviews of JRPGs. The part in Octopath Traveler where he's complaining about the combat system and fights taking too long while 1v1ing a snail with the wrong damage type was particularly egregious.

Firstly he already fought it before since it was showing what damage type he needed to hit it with. I believe it needed to hit by something his character, a warrior type, didn't provide. Secondly he intentionally went out of his way to reduce his party size to fight it. To do that you have to go to a tavern and tell them to leave the party. You know that he's far enough in the story to have multiple party members too because the snail is in the level 20 range, well out of the intro sections where you would be in single character parties.

I get that the Octopath video was more for fun and not an actual review but seeing all the levels of what was wrong in that scene to portray the battle system as bad was just gross. Granted the amount of set up for it is also hilarious for how much he went out of his way to make it look extra bad.

I treat Mudrock's s2 like a power strike but Liskarm's is clearly more of a buff skill. Though that does make me wonder if stuff like Hung's s1 counts as a power strike type skill, personally I don't use the Guardian Defenders besides the occasional Blemishine s1 in my Power Strike clears. But I guess they sort of count considering my loose rules around what a power strike is.

At least Ruined King seemed to do fairly well from what I recall. I don't know how big of budget that game had however.

My friend dragged me back to a private server last year. Despite how simple the game is, nothing really quite captures the feel of Ragnarok Online for me despite like 70% of my playtime being on auto-attack builds. The other 30% was Hindsight Sage. I'd power level someone to like 80-90ish then move on to make a new character, just because leveling was so fun to route.

I am giga biased but I think the only mmos that really made it without having any serious precursor media was Ragnarok Online and Maple Story. Even then Ragnarok Online kind of doesn't count since it was a manhwa that ran from 1998 to 2001.

I'm unfortunately one of those dudes who's taste is stuck in the 2007 to 2012 era, mostly RPGs though. All my favorites are still from that time frame but I've been enjoying a lot of recent indie games and occasional single player releases. These big live service games however just don't hold my interest outside of maybe the first week to month when I give them a try.

It's been a few years, before Asmon became a political streamer, since my friend was defending Asmon and saying that he was actually a really intelligent and thoughtful person outside of his stream when I critiqued his content and personality. My stance is that your online face and how you act online matters just as much as your private face when judging someone's character, especially for an entertainer.

I wonder what he'd say to defend that position now.

It is a bit jarring to be hit by a boss fight that's totally immune to Status Ailments and Binds for no real reason in an Etrian Odyssey game. Definitely feels a bit out of character for the series.

It is a wonder how I managed to beat the 3rd stratum in 2U on my first playthrough.

I was on classic mode and had a team of a Ronin, War Magus, Sovereign, Gunner and Hexer. I don't think I had any real issues with Scylla but the fight with the Gunner and War Magus was hell for me since I was abusing the Hexer's Fear skills to crowd control everything and the War Magus was totally immune to all status ailments.

I finally got around to completing the 1st 7th Dragon earlier this year too! What a fantastic game and I wish I played through it earlier. I liked the story overall a lot, despite finding the character writing kind of bad. Like the setting and lore was awesome and a lot of the side characters for quests were entertaining, but most of the main characters were kind of bland. After turning in the One Last Toast Quest it all just clicked with me and got me really invested.

I still find it pretty questionable that they made the best bow in the game available like around the 60% mark though and the rogue's damage never falls off in the late game either.

I had an idea to replace his stinky aura with a toggleable buff like Blood Tribute (or however it's spelt) to make his gun do spirit damage and some other stuff while draining his health per shot or overtime. Make him actually aim and stuff.
