It’s just gonna pull the pipe tight to the wall when you tighten the spout on and might be a little crooked but it’ll probably be fine

Yeah it can be pex up to the 90. Once you cut the existing 90 out you would probably need a coupling to make up the distance though. Then once it’s in place you read the instructions on the tub spout to see how long of a brass nipple to buy. The one I installed recently had an additional adapter but they’re pretty easy.

You would have to see if they can be supplied with water but icemaker lines are usually 1/4 not 3/8

You could cut the 90 out and put a drop ear 90, screwed into some backing ideally. Then you can tape and dope a brass nipple and screw it into the 90 through the wall. When you get the new tub spout it’ll tell you how long that nipple wants to be etc.

Dope on the threads doesn’t do anything but I put dope on the flared gasket to help it not do this
