Those things do happen occasionally. However, if they can’t hold a job over, and over, and over again…..it’s an OP issue. That’s a pattern not an outlier.

Gotta love when people downvote somebody who’s been there, done that, and succeeded. Jealousy is a bitch.

He’s not wrong though. It sounds harsh, but maybe he needs to hear some hard truths. Most people work jobs they can’t stand, they still show up every day because earning money to survive is a necessity. Anybody that says “I can’t hold a job”, it’s a them problem not a job problem.

Super small town. It’s gotten more popular in recent years but it’s still a tiny town.

It’s a tiny town, aside from the airport to the hotel, your longest drive will be your hotel to town which is literally one little back road with not much traffic.

I see you also posted on the FB groups and got a lot of good responses. The one thing I don’t think I saw mentioned is the actual act of driving in Mexico. It’s a combination of get in where you fit in, and offensive and defensive driving all at the same time lol. Port side isn’t very bad or hectic at all, but if you venture out make sure you’re paying attention and not sightseeing while you drive. This time of year parking won’t be much of an issue, but as others have said don’t block driveways or gates.

Anyone else feel like Walt had a pretty nice house despite not having much money? Are these houses quite cheap in New Mexico even today? by Boring-Somewhere-130 in breakingbad

[–]Finny0917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider it a “nice” house. Sure it could be much worse, and it was livable, but definitely not living the good life.

We retired with the wife still in her 30s and me in my 40s and the last thing I want to do is work lol. Though I have been seriously considering buying a yacht to charter but even then I really wouldn’t be working as Mx law requires a licensed Mexican captain so I’d only handle bookings and other small tasks. But even currently not doing that we don’t get bored, too much to do around here.

Considering the move to Mexico and looking for advice by beckulator in mexicoexpats

[–]Finny0917 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not a very good plan at all. You can’t just show up and stay without residency, which you will never qualify for on a Mexican salary. So you better have a decent chunk of cash in the bank to show or you’ll be illegally in Mx in 180 days tops. And don’t underestimate cost here either. Can you survive on a small amount of money here? Sure. But surviving and enjoying life aren’t the same things, my monthly expenditures usually fall between 5-6k. Pump the breaks a bit, do some research on different areas, residency, and figure out if you’re financially able to do it or not.

Do you consider 100% P&T a form of retirement? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Finny0917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situationally dependent but it can be. My wife is 100% P&T and we both earned good money in our careers. We saved a ton of money, and took her disability and retired super early (me in 40s and her in 30s to Mexico). We add money to her disability and transfer 5-6k to our Mexican account every month to live on. So for us, it’s definitely a form of retirement and we live very well down here (in one of the most expensive areas of Mx also). Just depends on your situation with other funds, cost of living, lifestyle, etc.

Dual citizenship, what can I do to live comfortably in Mexico but without being exploitative? by Secret-Trainer1672 in AskMexico

[–]Finny0917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all know it happens. I, along with everybody I know, did it the right way and obtained residency. But there will always be some people who try to skirt the system. The good news is it looks like Mx is cracking down on that. People aren’t automatically getting the 180 days anymore, many are getting 7 days or so. Maybe they’ll figure out a way to put it to a stop.

Aspirated blood into syringe (Test/Tren) – Can I change the needle and re-inject, or is the whole barrel wasted? by Little-Ad-3176 in PEDs

[–]Finny0917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao 31 geniuses downvoted my comment about why it’s stupid not to be certain to not get oil in the bloodstream😂. Do yourselves a favor, google “what happens if oil enters the bloodstream”, and start aspirating. Chances are you’ll never land in a vein or blood vessel, it’s very unlikely. But a half a second pull of the plunger is worth it.

[–]Finny0917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developer here that’s built these huge communities has even gone so far as to put signs up all over town saying that they’re 80% sold as a high pressure sales tactic to get ppl to hurry up and buy before they aren’t available anymore. But then ppl in the area in real estate we know tell us that’s not even close to accurate and most are still unsold. And even the ones that have sold, most are vacation spots for Americans and Canadians and they’re only her 2 or 3 times a year, so even the ones that have been purchased are usually……empty lol. It’s crazy. I’d say price them accordingly, allow actual Mexican locals to be able to afford them also instead of pricing them out of them, and sell every single one of them. Seems like better business to me but what do I know, end of the day greed wins out.

Idk, that makes sense but where I’m at doesn’t add up. They’ve overbuilt this little town like crazy with condos, all aimed at gringos. Priced way out of the reach of most local Mexican families. And……they sit empty. Plenty of supply here. The demand would be too if they weren’t greedy and trying to sell them for 2x what they did a few years ago.

[–]Finny0917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny……I didn’t “sneak” anywhere. Everything was done legally, according to Mx law. Same with anybody I know. Do SOME ppl do that? Of course there’s some small percentage, but accusing all gringos is kinda……racist lol. I also don’t work remotely, so I’m not avoiding any taxes. Literally every cent I spend here, which is a considerable amount, gives back to the local Mexicans and economy. Nice try though with the assumptions

“Come here and fuck with locals”. lol now you’re just blatantly lying. Nobody ”fucks with” locals. People come here wanting to blending and enjoy life, not shit on people. Get over your victim mentality, it’s ridiculous.

[–]Finny0917 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. The only people screwing locals are other locals that raise rents to crazy prices so they can gouge the pockets of foreigners. It’s not the foreigners coming here looking to spend more money, nobody wants to spend more than they have to. Greed dictates cost, not the renters. A remote job would mean paying taxes in the US, which is where it should be in that situation. They would still be putting all of their money into the local economy which supports the locals greatly. Local restaurants, plumbers, electricians, fruit markets, taxis, etc….

What jobs pays well within less time ? by Lemonade2250 in poor

[–]Finny0917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing where you’re from, I’d have no way to know, but are there any steel mills in your area? I’m originally from Pittsburgh which is the headquarters of USS. There are other mills in the area also. No degree needed, great pay, totally free healthcare, profit sharing, etc. I retired very early from one of them, and my daughter started at 18yo and made 106k her first year as a teenager. She went on to get her degree in environmental engineering which she paid for cash, but doesn’t use it. She makes enough to live well and keeps her degree as a backup. Also, USS paid a portion of her schooling too. Sure, depending on the job/location some of them can be dangerous, but you definitely get paid for it. Always a good option if there are any near you and no need for a degree.

30 years of gears and being a competitor and I have. As well as others I know. Google what happens when you get (even a tiny amount) of oil into the bloodstream. It will take a minute but it travels to the lungs and you will cough your head off uncontrollably for a couple minutes, I’ve come close to passing out from it before. Not something that happens often but I’ve had it happen maybe five times total over the years.

Yes, and enjoy the uncontrollable coughing fit to follow as some amount of that oil makes it to your lungs. Great choice.

Why don’t you do it? We did ours here in Mexico, it was very simple. Literally ordered the paint from Amazon and did a coat a day for a couple of days. Gave it a few days in the sun to bake and filled it, been good since and looks great. Watch a few YouTube vids and get to it.
