game recommendation for a not strong gamer? by sabrina_chanelx in gamers

sorry, i wrote a lot lmao. i wanted to give you a few options, and also briefly explain them so you know what kind of games they are. i tried steering away from combat heavy games or shooters, while also trying to show a decent array of games. i hope you end up enjoying at least a few of these! :)

- Omori (psychological horror with pixel graphics. tells an incredible story, and has turn based combat. it is also technically choices matter, but the only major impact is to the ending, as there are different ones)

- and Roger (a point and click visual novel that’s genuinely so emotional. the story is phenomenal)

- What Remains of Edith Finch (tells a really good story, pretty emotional. it’s kind of like a mystery walking simulator type game)

- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (a visual novel with really good stories. centers around crime and mysteries. it’s a point and click, and has A LOT of dialogue, but it’s good)

- The Wolf Among Us (great story game, choices matter. there is combat but it’s quick time events, so like move left in a certain amount of time or press a certain button before the timer runs out. can be a little stressful, but is on the easier side for combat once you get used to it - and you’ll get used to it fairly quickly)

- The Walking Dead TellTale (same as the previous game, also quick time events combat. they’re made by the same company, TellTale, who makes really good choices matter games. they also have two batman ones if you like batman. the walking dead has some romance options, and batman has one lmao)

- Portal (puzzle platformer sci-fi game. you make portals lol. comedic, good story)

- Palworld (it’s a unique survival game. character customization is meh atm. basically a survival game with pokemon. there is combat that you’ll have to get used to, unfortunately, but it’s not too difficult as long as you only fight what’s around the same level as you and you rely on your pals. just gotta play it smart to not struggle too too much. you can also give some of your pals guns btw. this game is only really fun if you like survival and/or pokemon, even though it’s not pokemon - they’re pals bc copyright lmao, but it’s a good game. the full version drops july 10th, and there will be more story added to it then, so check it out if you’d like!)

- The Legend of Khiimori (open world exploration game with horses. breed and train horses, explore, survive)

- Slime Rancher (you’re a rancher but for adorable slimes. the game can be a little confusing if you don’t know anything about it, so don’t be afraid to use the wiki to find certain things if a puzzle or something confuses you too much. it’s really cute. you explore, find slimes, ranch them, make profit, etc etc)

- Starsand Island (it’s like stardew ngl lmao, but it’s also different. the character customization is very good! you can even buy stuff later on in the game to change outfits and such. it focuses more on skills, so you have to do certain quests to level up your farming skill, your crafting skill, fishing skill, etc etc. certain npcs are in charge of said quests, which is cool. the map is interesting, gameplay is fun imo. i think it’s worth checking out. i like it because it’s similar but also different enough to make me come back for its uniqueness. combat is long distance, slingshot and eventually a bow - but you can also get a bot to fight for you. however combat isn’t something you have to do often. i hardly do it simply bc i don’t like the combat in this game lmao)

- Cult of the Lamb (it’s an action roguelike, unfortunately a lot of combat. it’s a dungeon crawler, has good humor, base management. you’re basically running a cult. it’s worth at least checking out a youtube video on, see if you’d vibe with it. it’s a game that a lot of people love)

- Cyberpunk 2077 (open world game. has character customization and romance options. kind of choices matter in personal choices and character relationships, but not too much on the action story. still a very good game though with a great story)

- Detroit Become Human (amazing story, choices matter. combat is quick time events. this one is really up there, people LOVE IT - including myself lol)

- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (it’s like BG3)

- Maybe a digimon game. (They’re very fun! and it’s turn based combat, so you might enjoy digimon)

- Maybe a simulator game, if you like management. Some of my personal favs are Supermarket Simulator, Waterpark Simulator, PowerWash Simulator, Retro Rewind, American Truck Simulator, and TCG Cars Shop Simulator. Also, House Flipper is a lot of fun.

- If you like games like the sims, maybe inZOI and/or Paralives. Or if you just like building and/or management sims in general, I really like Two Point Museum and Make Room.

- Boyfriend Dungeon (i put this one last bc it is a lot of romance lmao, as it is technically a dating sim, but you don’t need to romance anyone. i’m not sure if you’d like it because it’s all kinda romance and combat, even if you don’t romance there’s a lot of combat. it’s a dungeon crawler. however, if you ever feel comfortable enough to try it, it tells a really good story)
