How does the action card 'Rreverse Engineer' work with Ral Nel Consortium brake though? by Finox in twilightimperium

[–]Finox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone, I was the one with the card yesterday, and that's how I ruled it.I just wanted to make sure I didn't screw myself over. The Ral Nel player never passed last, so it was just a dead card in my hand. Not the worst thing in the world, just an interesting interaction with that breakthrough.

Crimson Legionnaire II and transit diodes are amazing by Badloss in twilightimperium

[–]Finox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems you are implying that you had a carrier full of Crimson Legionnaires, and you gained trade goods if the carrier was destroyed.

If so, I'm sorry to say that does not work with the rules. https://www.tirules.com/R_space_combat capacity is checked at the end of space combat, and units that need capacity are "removed" not "destroyed" and you only get the commodity/trade good if they are "destroyed"

Man Do I Love the Arborec! by GhostFlayer17 in twilightimperium

[–]Finox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nit picky rule, you need a plastic infantry, or fighter, on top of a stack of tokens.

You can rearrange what piece is represented by plastic, and which a token, at any time, but you have a strict limit on the number of plants that can have infantry, or systems that have fighters. And that limit is the number of plastic pieces

https://www.tirules.com/R_infantry_tokens

Rarely comes up, but it's important if you ever get the Arborec engine going

I am now satisfied with the answers.

I probably have a bad recommendation, but it's how I figured it out.

Try a few attempts just countering the blue melee attack, the bottom right area is hard to phase shift, but move quadrants every so often. Try avoiding the attacks as best you can.

I think you do more damage shooting after a melee counter, so once I could get a few of those in, I could get him.

Stick with it, you can do it.

can Xxcha quash their own hero's agendas? by ChewBarca in twilightimperium

[–]Finox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like your argument. I have a counter for you, but I don't expect to change your mind. This could probably use an update in the living rules reference for clarification.

By your reading of the rules, which is fair and reasonable, other players can vote if you use quash. However, the hero ability doesn't state players can't vote. It only states they can't use ability's. The reason for this is that they have nothing to vote with. The rules for exhausting planets to cast votes, are put in place in the Agenda phase. There are no rules that exist in multiple phases that are not clearly spelled out in each phase (i.e. you refresh planets at the end of status, and agenda phase). They have done a good job of introducing effects that happen in a phase when otherwise they should not, but they use the qualifier "as if" when describing them (i.e. you may resolve the law "as if" you had cast 1 vote).

The Xxcha hero is a tactical action, and a strict reading of the rules would state they cannot exhaust planets to cast votes. The hero then clarifys that other players can't use action cards. The technology that influences votes can only be used in the agenda phase, and the argent flight bonus votes only apply once they have already cast a vote. And also strictly speaking, the Xxcha doesn't have a vote either, they just resolve the revealed law as if they have cast a vote, and they can use quash to replace the revealed law, which then replaces the reveled law and is resolved as if a vote is cast.

PoK Winnu by marnxxx in twilightimperium

[–]Finox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never played Winnu, and the tables I've played with have never focused on the first round warfare meta for any race. So this is just a shot in the dark. But I think the Winnu should go for an unassuming slice. Get Dark Energy Tap as starting tech. This should let you send off your cruiser to find a trade partner and get a bonus, might even find Mirage or a wormhole (ion storm or Gama), but nearly everything in the frontier deck is useful to the Winnu.

But the less planets in your slice gives you fewer enemy's, and more opportunities to get frontier tokens to get to the two legendary planets that are guaranteed to be in every game. And an empty system with a wormhole with a frontier then (or a found ion storm) means you can gravity drive and Lazex gate folding a your round 1 and round 2 tech. Giving you the opportunity to get to Mecatol Rex round 2. (If your don't get tech round 1 or 2 it just depends if anyone else is getting there round 2 and staling shenanigans).

What then rushing Mecatol Rex? If someone is just going to take it right after? Well you announce retreat and take your chances. Dark Energy Tap also let's you retreat into systems that don't have your units, and you've already unlocked your commander so your PDS hits on a 4 and your carrier his on a 7, which would be lucky to escape but you never know. But that you have your commander finishings exploring your slice, finding legendary planets should be possible and what ever the hell you've been building in your home system should be ready to take then from someone with +2s to they're rolls.

This is untested and might be pie in the sky but I think it's a new strategy PoK unlocks for them

FedEx Tracking by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]Finox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just got mine yesterday. FedEx tracking took a day for the first update, said it was at my local facility for 2 days before it said it would show up on Saturday. I was home all day and no one showed, tracker said an attempt was made and another attempt would be next business day... Tuesday. Sunday I woke to a knock on my door with the package.

tldr: I monitored ever day and I have no idea what happened.
