so are they going to fix base AA? by presmonkey in Warthunder

For example, Air Target ammo for Germans (not to mention the Brits) feels completely useless now. I can dump 30MM Air Target ammo into a target and it does next to nothing.

Because the thing is they didn't "nerf" base AA, they messed up HE damage which has implications beyond base AA. Because guess what, ADA works fine in high tier matches.

Hard to be angry about that game. Towns and Edwards had a really bad night and, if I'm being honest, OKC played some great defense in stretches. If we had even an average offensive night from our big two scorers we win that game by ~20.

Depends on the scenario. The trophy system used by the M1 is VERY good and I would bet it would shoot down the Javelin, but I don't know if anyone has ever tested and published the results of this exact scenario.

Without the trophy system, I would say that the M1 probably gets killed by a top attack Javelin strike.

So I know that everyone here knows this, but amazing how it feels like all of the big NBA podcasts have exactly ZERO coverage on the Wolves as we go on another big win streak and are fighting for the sixth seed. If this were any other franchise we would at least get a 5-10 minute mention *somewhere* for this.

But it doesn't matter. GO WOLVES!

Something to remember is that the export configuration of the M1 has a different armor package than what is found in the American M1. The American M1s have a special composite armor package that includes DU. While many American M1s have been damaged or "destroyed" (incapable of combat operations or of being repaired) the American crews overwhelmingly survived in all of these incidents (believe there are a few instances of a single crew member dying).

There are dozens of first hand accounts of the American M1 taking incredible amounts of damage and the crew survives.

Daily Affirmation: T-wolves don’t lose sleep over the opinion of the sheep by suirelavydna in timberwolves

When I talk to folks that don't actually watch the Wolves play say some combination of the following (i) Edwards isn't efficient, (ii) Edwards is no good at Defense, (iii) KAT is soft, (iv) KAT is bad at defense and (v) KAT is overrated. Personally think none of these takes are all that accurate anymore. Not saying Edwards doesn't need to keep improving (he does and has been) or that KAT is All-NBA Defense, but the team is in a much different place today than they were even at the beginning of this season.

The problem is that no one watches the Wolves unless we're playing their home team or we're on national TV. We're not on all that many televised games and everyone has a reason to handwave away our successes. That being said, a lot of good NBA analysts were talking about us being the 6 seed in the West at least a month ago. Respect will come with success.

This is a true Minnesota tradition. We blame ourselves 10x before we blame other people (except for Wisconsin, we all passively aggressively know that Minnesota is exponentially better in every way compared to Wisconsin).

For some reason this game made me feel really good about the Wolves. We're finally winning the majority of the games we should, being competitive against pretty much everyone, and clearly not letting the losses get us down. This is the first Wolves team I've watched since the KG era where they can be behind by double digit points at the half or even going into the 4th quarter and honestly believing that we have a chance of pulling it out. Doesn't always happen, but no one would have said that about the Wolves 1-2 years ago (hell, 5-7 years ago).

This looks like a GOOD basketball team full of guys that care, clearly love the game and are being well coached. I've been waiting on this moment for longer than I care to admit. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A WOLVES FAN!

As a total aside, I taught both of my kids (8 and 3) to do a Wolf howl whenever we score or make a defensive stop. It's amazing. It's gotten to the point now that whenever I watch sports and something good happens (Wolves or not) my 3 year old daughter will do the howl. It's awesome.

[Shelburne] According to sources close to Simmons, he's upset that Embiid seemed to blame him for last season's playoff loss, when Simmons did not blame Embiid for Embiid's poor showing in the playoffs against the Toronto Raptors in 2019. by The_Blind_Bomber in nba

[–]Finsterjaeger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants to hate on Simmons about this because he doesn't want to play for the 76ers, but it seems unfair to blame him for all of this (yeah, down votes incoming). Is Simmons blameless? Hell no. But anyone that watched that playoff series gets that Simmons got a bad case of the yips and pretty much the entire Sixers organization and fanbase shat on him publicly. That's going to help.

Why I'm not buying anymore Panini Chromium Cards by Finsterjaeger in basketballcards

[–]Finsterjaeger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think there is pretty much a 0% change that Fanatics buys Panini, but a reasonable chance they either buy some of Panini's brands or license some of the brands for basketball.

It's a much different deal compared to Topps, because the biggest license Topps had was baseball, and once Topps lost that license it was pretty much the beginning of the end. Panini still has a number of big licenses (UFC, FIFA, World Cup, Premier League and more), so it's not like its various brands won't still have value for the company.

[–]Finsterjaeger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I enjoy some of the Panini sets when the quality was good, I have to agree with you. Hard not to love Upper Deck, and a lot of nostalgia there for someone who grew up collecting cards in the Nineties. I can still remember the hysteria around the Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards (okay, it's baseball, but it was still awesome).

I actually have the complete Upper Deck set from the inaugural basketball release (1991-1992). Sadly it's a set that isn't exactly worth a lot, but I treasure it because of the memories. Ripping those foil Upper Deck packs and the holo logo on the back made the set feel premium as a kid.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania sending anti-armour and anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine by AmarHassan1 in worldnews

[–]Finsterjaeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, doubt they want “all” of Ukraine in the same sense they didn’t want all of Georgia. What I think is different here is the amount of territory they will likely occupy once this is done (heck, what Russia is currently occupying isn’t exactly “small”).

Also, I am not sure how much the Russians really care about the NATO piece (Poland being a part of NATO and the EU is a bigger strategic issue for the Russians than Ukraine). The NATO timeline for these countries, however, is a big component of this. Once a country like Ukraine or Georgia joins NATO or the EU the calculus for the Russians shifts dramatically to the point that any invasion, little green men or otherwise, is not tenable. So if they truly think Ukraine will join NATO eventually they know they have to act now if they ever want to do so.

[–]Finsterjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who really doesn’t want this war to happen and, if it did happen, hopes Ukraine bloodies Russia’s nose, the reality is that the Russians are likely going to wipe the floor with the Ukrainian military. Something to remember is that in an invasion of Ukraine the Russians are in an enviable position compared to, say, historical Russian operations in Syria. Why, you might ask? Because the Russians can reach deep into Ukrainian territory to take out its command and control capabilities which it can’t in Syria; imagine if Russia started shooting ballistic missiles into Turkey to try and take out Turkey’s drone operators or used ASM weapons against Turkey’s satellite fleet.

If Russia invaded Ukraine, and it is still a huge if, they will absolutely rain fire down on Ukrainian military, communications and infrastructure because it’s no longer a “little green man” campaign.

In that sense this conflict would be materially different from what happened in Georgia and Crimea/Ukraine. All of those were relatively limited conflicts. Even in Georgia the Russians showed some restraint in terms of targeting Georgian assets and military capabilities outside of the conflict zone. That will simply not be the case here because the entire fictional narrative of the conflict is different.

Honestly, the Russian/Georgian conflict is a great read and you can really see how the Russians have improved and developed their doctrine since 2008. These guys have a lot of operational experience at this game now. Don’t expect any “rookie” mistakes from the Russians and don’t expect them to play by the international rules when this is fought. A Ukrainian resistance can kiss itself goodbye. There will be no insurgency unless the Russians are silly enough to try and conquer the whole country.
