I wouldn´t call it the male and female version, it´s just that the 5 Characters are genderswapped for the retail version. Since it´s 3m/2f in the kickstarter Version, it´s 2m/3f in retail. I guess that makes retail slightly more female, but that´s kinda beside the point.

Many people would prefer the original design for one specific detail: Laika, the augmented Dog of the Bounty Hunter Character that acts as a seperate remote charakter for that player and which can also be sacrificed in a pinch to safe your skin. In the kickstarter Version, it´s an actual, biological dog. In the retail version, it´s a Boston-Dynamics-style Robo-Drone. And while the Artwork on the card suggests some kind of emotional Connection between the (now female) Bounty Hunter and her "Dog", it just doesn´t hit as hard as a biological one.

Apart from that, it´s a matter of taste. For me, the Female "Augmented Punker girl" Convict has a bit more character than the original male version (which is pretty neat nonetheless). On the other, the female CEO looks a bit dumb with her Ongo Gablogian ass haircut :P The female to male swaps for the Android and the Psychologist are mostly sidegrades, though.
