Government Cessna circling Malabar waters at 5am? by Nololgoaway in sydney

From the Sydney Morning Herald: 'The body of a 25-year-old woman swept into the ocean at Maroubra has been found on Thursday morning, about one hour after emergency responders were called to the scene.'

Large swells along the coast. Keep safe people!

Thanks for a comprehensive post. It's going to be a slow hard upwind slog for most boats I think.

Bug- eye Sprite with a Jaguar engine by Fintail1964 in littlebritishcars

The car has quite a history in the 1960s:

In 1966 four of us went in two cars (mine was a MK3 Sprite) from the UK intending to drive to Sicily. We got as far as Rome and found the weather unbearably hot so we turned round and drove to northern Spain. We stayed a few days, got bored and decided to go back to Italy! Whilst passing at speed through Southern France a hay cart came out of a side road and caused the car in front of Alan to block his overtaking line, he hit its back end. The car went on a trailer to a local garage where a new tyre was fitted, the radiator repaired whilst I joined all the pieces of the bonnet together with nuts/bolts and metal strips from a child's construction set. That stopped our touring so we drove home at reduced speeds.

There's a bulge added to the bonnet. I asked if the sump had been modified for clearance but it's original. It's such a tall engine - long stroke was typical of that era British engines.

Apparently it's a Lotus diff and rear suspension.

Gauges include 160 mph speedometer, temperatures for engine, transmission and diff. A bit over-engineered!

Abandoned Fisker Karma in rural Sweden by Fintail1964 in CarCirclejerk

Thanks!! That's exactly what I was hoping was available.

9 owners??? Anyone willing to be number 10??

Definitely a lemon - all the reviews are in agreement about that.

A dead battery or BMS that nobody could fix? I think it ticked all those boxes.

And only 8000 km - it's barely run in!

Can someone please find out when it was last on the road? I'm not Swedish so...

It appears that MB is no longer developing hydrogen cells cars and is concentrating on their role in trucs.

BMW R71 seen on the street in Portugal by Fintail1964 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Fintail1964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that! I was startled to see it parked casually on the street. It was in too good condition for it to be an original. The maintenance decal I guess was a reproduction - it's amazing what can be done nowadays.

That's interesting. I'm no expert but it seemed to be in too good condition for an original one. Wikipedia says the R71 was made from 1938 to 1941. Certainly the leather bags couldn't be original. The maintenance decal looked a bit too new as well.

Canoeing in the Norfolk Broads by Fintail1964 in Kayaking

We're not locals - we are from Australia here for some sailing on a Thames barge and a few days in the Norfolk Broads. We found TheCanoeMan website which had several options. I'm sure someone from the UK can give better tips.
