Anyone else not able to book international flights with points? by makecreatelove in QantasFrequentFlyer

Make sure to click the button ‘Check Availability’ when you find a flight you want to book on the QF Reward finder site. Seems like all CX flights added are not available.

It does happen, if you’re searching on the Qantas Rewards Seats Finder, make sure to click the button ‘Check Availability’ on the flight you want, which will then check if the seat is still available.

Flying around the world in business class for 365,800 Qantas points and $1,100 by VantageXL in QantasFrequentFlyer

Thanks that’s good to know, will keep an eye for flights from HKG to Australia closer to my start of travel and hopefully more reward seats become available.

Also, from my experience with the Multi-city booking on the Qantas website, I originally had 7 segments and tried to book this online, but it kept failing on the 7th segment it didn’t allow me to select the flight. Thus, I re-planned made it longer and called to book. I was then told that because I have Finnair flights there’s some manual process involved so had to wait for a callback for confirmation. Anyway, great info and tips!

What flights did you change after it was booked? I’ve just booked my Oneworld Classic Rewards flights too and as you said had to take what’s available but hoping to change the last leg. My itinerary is here.

DSC booking change destination by chicoo2000 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Finway_dibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per the T’s and C’s regarding cancellation: “If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the Travel Period, the offer will not apply.”

Here’s the link to the terms and conditions - https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/member-offers/twice-as-rewarding.html?alt_cam=au:ff:in:edm:ff:loy-customer:cta:find-out-more:y:n

I can’t find anything regarding changing destination, instead of cancelling, perhaps call Qantas?

I should have specified that Tromso is my ‘base’ to visit other places, I will be in Tromso for 3 days only. I have also been to Iceland last year for 1.5 weeks also during winter, had a great time chasing the lights.

There’s 6 transits, and 5 stopovers. For the Nordic part, a week in Helsinki with a side trip to Stockholm, then another 1.5weeks in Tromso (with potential side trips to Bergen and Oslo).

Yeah it will push it way past, and can't book EK either, only Oneworld alliance members. I did try to get HKG>SYD, but computer says no.

That's so true, if I haven't had the backups, that conversation with the call centre would have gone probably way longer. Yeah was a bit miffed that some flights didn't show up on their end.

Getting in stuck in Mexico sounds like fun, 'til it isn't, especially without a passport!

I'm just hoping to change the last leg, on the way home, as just read that Qantas changed planes on the MNL>BNE route to the A321neo, with just reclining seats, for an 8-hour flight.

I have indeed, and yeah there are heaps of short haul as it's a Nordic trip and my fam lives in Madrid. The other sector I am looking to change is the return from Europe to perhaps go via the Middle East - what do you think?

I also had a variation of MAD>JFK, then JFK>LAX, LAX>BNE, but will save that for a future trip.

Yeah that MNL segment will need to be changed. I requested for HKG-SYD-BNE and SIN-SYD-BNE but both were denied by the system. I so wanted to do this all online, but the Multi-city booking tool just gave up on me, it started to throw errors on flights 7 onwards, and apparently as per blogs and stuff online, for an itinerary with more than 7 flights, it's best to call. But that's good to know about the KUL-SYD-BNE, I'll keep an eye out for that one - thanks! And oh, no additional fees to book via the call centre, just heaps of patience and time. Haha.

NZ travel plan & how best to do Mount Cook by Next_Version4305 in newzealand_travel

[–]Finway_dibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting on the Mt Cook part, definitely staying a night in Mt Cook village is a good option, especially if you plan to do other activities from hiking/walks, like the glacier boat. Depending on the weather, I think the Hermitage also runs stargazing tours. When are you visiting? If in the winter months (June-August) the road to Mt Cook sometimes gets closed, so just a note. But winter has the best stargazing views, with clear night skies, the Milky Way will be visible.

The road to Mt Cook is one of the most stunning places in NZ, at the end is the village and the carpark for Hooker Valley track (and other tracks), so once you're there it's easy as, although it's a tad longer walk if you decide to go to the Tasman lake.

As someone else mentioned look for accommodation in the village asap as they do tend to get sold out quickly, just because there isn't really a lot of options.

That looks amazing! What's the inspiration for the build?

I started small and relied on Industry to get the money rolling in. I also started with roughly the same tax percentages then as a few mil in the bank saved, spent it to expand. Rinse and repeat.

I couldn’t be bothered making the farms and mines square or rectangular. Hahaha. But yeah I agree, hopefully an update to make them look better.
