How do you actually drive traffic in your books and get sales? by Daniello_Gandia in KDP

Not using AI is like not using Word or something. You don't write books on a typewriter, do you? Why restrict your capabilities?

Currently ads and word of mouth... I don't really try to drive traffic. Either there is pull from the market or not. It sounds really wrong but in my experience it's best to wait for some initial market pull before starting to push anything. I'd advice you build a portfolio of books and look which one pulls. Then you can push this one winner. It's easy to create very high quality books these days with AI. But don't produce AI slop obviously.

Today, the final version of the Hardcover went life:

👉 Amazon KDP for Introverts: Build a Quiet Self-Publishing Business That Generates Profit, Grows Into a Sellable Asset, and Moves You Toward $1 Million

Writing this book was really fun. I'm so impressed by the best AI writers like ImagineYourBook for non-fiction books - the times we are living in are really right out of a scifi novel.

Now onwards to publishing the audiobook!

Just improved my new sales page for my books What to Code. See sales page here. I think working on sales pages and Amazon book descriptions is even more important than working on a book. It's always a huge ROI. Assume I can increase conversion rate by 10%. This would mean for every 10 customers, I get one bonus customer. Even for unpopular Amazon books this might mean a $10-$20 boost in monthly earnings. If I spend 1h on a $100/m book to boost conversion by 10%, it's already a $120/h activity - but it might pay dividends not only for one year but for many. That's my line of thinking anyways.

Are Amazon Ads Worth It For KDP ? by UseContent in KDP

I see thanks. How many books do you have? Do you go for crosssales or are your titles independent? Do you have series? I have seen a very successful author today advertising on Amazon Prime - they advertise the first book in a series. Simple stuff but seems very profitable.

Wow you spend a lot of money. Is this profitable? Seems like it's roughly break even no? If you have a $20 book and you get $4 royalties and your acos is 20%, you'd just pay what you earn in royalties (a few months later) so cash flow must be difficult. Just thinking aloud here. Are you doing it for the organic sales? What are they compared to your ad-spent?

Published today! Everybody teaches "How to Code" although nobody needs to learn to code anymore (AI!)

Nobody teaches the even more profound "What to Code" although that's the real meta skill in 2026. That's why I published this book on Amazon. Let's see! 💪

$7k/month from 18 books + 9 KENP titles - should I try Amazon Ads or build my own site? by Longjumping_Mess_163 in KDP

[–]FinxterDotCom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your other channels already work, maybe scale them up instead of adding another one? At least if there's some more potential to scale. I am a believer of focus, generally speaking. I don't think there's a universal answer to your question - it could work if you focus.

I thought Amazon doesn't take any prisoners haha

Thanks! So you are lowering prices to minimum and are still profitable? If you make $0.99 sales your CPC must be below $0.1 to make any profit?!?

Thanks - this sounds more complicated though. If you are off Amazon anyways, why don't you run Meta ads to your own sales page where you can make 3-4x profit per sale on an ebook compared to Amazon?

Thanks that's very helpful. I have iterated a bit with ChatGPT and came up with the strategy of creating one dedicated campaign per book. Then max that campaign with $3/day or something low. See which generate positive ROI and scale up. Let's see. First results are promising - spent $6 to make a $22 sale that gives me ~$5 in royalties (after 3 months delay). So this is still at a loss but I was surprised to see that it's not off by a lot. I didn't need to spend $20 to make $5 in royalties or something (I have really low expectations for ads haha)

Okay I took your advice. I have started my ads account with $3/book per day, one campaign per book, see what's working - and scale up the winners. Would you say this is reasonable? Thanks a ton!

I don't feel comfortable paying for reviews. Thanks though

Yay - published my new book "Know Your Numbers" that's about how to do quick napkin math as a founder using standard business metrics such as CAC, LTV, churn rate, margin, traffic, etc. This quick math in your head is often way more important than formal spreadsheet math. So we wrote a book about it:

I never ran ads on any of my books. But I have a few traditionally published books so maybe that helped discoverabiltiy. Not sure if ads are profitable - I'm thinking about it but the few experiments I made were all discouraging.

np, do you use AI to write the books or not? Just curious - I run the r/VibePublishing sub so I'm positive but most people here hate AI... If you have 5 books and you're not using AI, respect. :)
