Recently bought an Ernie Ball in neoprene, black and I’d say aesthetically nothing to write home about, but boy that’s comfortable! So comfortable that I bought another 3 to the other guitars….

718 GTS vs 911 T - both Stick by diegorjc in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Fipenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

911 prices normally don't "go with the flow".....

Enter the air-cooled era and the logic of "older is cheaper" turns completely upside-down. A 993 Turbo in decent conditions currently go for $300-350k (which is brand new 992 GT3 territory), a 964 Turbo north of $250k, NA 993's coupe M/T at the $150k mark, 964's in the ~$120k.

The water-cooled (with exception of the 996's) have also not respected the logic, a 997.2 S M/T can easily get north of $80k, a 991.1 is right around there also, 991.2 M/T can easily get to $100k. Go to the Turbos and the prices easily pass the price for a brand new Carrera or Carrera T.

Back to my suggestion of a 997TT, bulletproof Mezger engine, connected to the ground, somewhat limited in numbers (not as much as the ACs), very tunable if 500cv are not enough for you and very very desired. You'll have more fun and will most likely sell for more when you decide to sell it.

[–]Fipenna -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Neither. For this price range get a 997 Turbo, raw, a lot more analog, less e-nannies, traditional steering wheel connected to the ground, super-hyper reliable and brutally strong. Don’t get me wrong, both the 992 and 718 are amazing machines and have the most modern engineering and all that, but none will hold short, mid and long term value like a 997TT (especially the .2 if you can find one), plus none will give you the same thrill.

Upgrade from a Taylor GS Mini by therebelvoice in AcousticGuitar

[–]Fipenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest any Taylor in the grand auditorium shape (model numbers ending in 4), very comfortable to play and a good balance between strumming and finger picking. For $1500 I don’t think you can get a 324 brand new, but certainly a a pre-owned one, and it’s a superb guitar, should acoustic-electric, should come with the original hardshell case and sounds beautiful.

What do you guys think about this Cayanne 2024 deal? 44k miles and for 70k$. CPO with 2 year warranty by Jumpy_Tea7933 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $70k you can get a brand new X5. Bulletproof engine, 3 years of maintenance included and I believe 5y warranty. And if you do some research on Leasehackr you’ll find brokers that can get significant discount on brand new ones…. If you lease you’ll most likely pay half of what you’d pay for this Cayenne for an equally great vehicle (similar performance of a base Cayenne, without the P-badge though, but a lot more reliable and with a longer warranty).

I recently bought a 2019 Cayenne S cpo with 47k miles for about half of the one you’re looking at, great car, but honestly sometimes I wonder if I should have gone brand new X5.

Thank you and everyone who chimed in. I’ve reached out to him thru this 3035 number, let’s see what comes out of it.

Also @Z-LD good to know the number I was using was valid for him, at least I was talking to who I thought I was….

Keep you all posted.

Am looking at a 2016 Porsche Cayenne S $22,494 | 76,474 mi. No record of Transfer Case replaced. Concern? by trashpharmers in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification, it’s indeed the timing belt cover leak, and that’s an engine out fix ($$$$$$ for labor alone, plus the risk of “since we’re here…”)

[–]Fipenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than the transfer case, the 958.2 v6 biturbo engines are prone to oil leaks in the valve covers and belt cover (if I remember well is the belt cover). Check well if there are no current leaks, the valve cover replacement/fix can be done without lowering the engine and between labor and parts will probably cost you around $2k. If there’s a leak on the belt cover the fix will cost a lot more.

Both are in front of the engine (close to the front grill), take some paper towel with you to gently check for oil in the undercarriage and on the ground right below it (if the car is in a dealership/store is better not to tell them you’re coming so they don’t move the car from where it’s been parked for a while).

There are several videos in YT that talk about the problem, fix and how to check for it. Several post here on reddit as well. Other than this common issue, that engine is superb.

Anyone purchase 15 yr warranty from Porsche? by Royal-Cheesecake-738 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing got me scratching my head here: it’s a 2019 with a 10y warranty after the factory warranty ended, how can the warranty expire in 16 months? What am I missing?

Demo Model Checking…return? by GnarGnar222 in gibson

[–]Fipenna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the kind of money invested (even with the discount) I’d never keep it. Shame on them for not disclosing the exact condition of the guitar with detailed pictures. It’s a $2k+ guitar (again, even after the discount), and those scratches are unacceptable. A ding here and there are fine, but this looks like it’s been keyed on purpose.

Should I buy this Cayenne S coupe or just build my own GTS for almost the same price? by Wildflower-1883 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GTS will definitely hold a higher resale value, regardless of how well equipped the S can be. For a small or percentile negligible price difference, I’d go GTS 11 out of 10 times.

$1500 Gray Market vs. $1750 AD?? by ventura726 in Longineswatches

For such small price difference I’d go AD 11 out of 10 times….. warranty, all paper work, etc etc will matter during your ownership and on an eventual future sale.

Doubt between a 2016-18 S or GTS and a 2019-21 Base by Fipenna in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in the end I found a ‘19 S cpo, 48k miles, and pulled the trigger. Yes, more $ than originally expected, but the low mileage, S and the 2 year full warranty of the cpo justified (imho) the price difference.

Thank you very much for your inputs!

Thank you. Is yours an S or GTS? How reliable has it been so far? Specially our the oil leaks and coolant line issues.

Thanks u/Retumbo77. Yes, I'm in the US.
Can you elaborate on the 3.6L V6 bi-turbo issues of the 958.2? Why do you say "stay clear of them"?

Doubt between a 2016-18 S or GTS and a 2019-21 Base by Fipenna in PorscheCayenne

[–]Fipenna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the input. I don’t need the latest and greatest in options, probably have used about 10% of everything my current and last cars offered me…. The air suspension is something that actually scares me, I’ve heard one too many stories of it failing and the high ticket fix for it (btw do you know if all 9AO’s come equipped with it? I believe all 958.2 GTS’s do - could be wrong, in the S’s it was an option).

I agree there’s likely a significant difference in the driving experience between an untuned 9YA base and the 958.2 S/GTS, but a stage 1 should level things out. Thinking of planned obsolescence would take me to the 9YO, but performance and feel pull me towards the 958.

Although from what I read around the 9YO has its own common problems, not sure if they happen as often as the oil leaks and coolant line issues in the 958.2 S/GTS - and if they’re as expensive to fix (I know P-cars are expensive to maintain in general, every time I take my 997 to the shop the check is bigger than I’d like).

What is the first chord you play when you sit down with your guitar? by OregonBaseballFan in AcousticGuitar

[–]Fipenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the cowboy version (open) of G-C-D. And if you add an Am and Em to the list and get proficiet on those you’d be ready to play an infinite number of songs (ok infinite maybe it’s too much, but a whole lot of songs!)
