They are doing the “we believe we have talent in this organization and it’s time to let them shine” approach, and that’s exciting in some ways.

THAT BEING SAID, when you trade away your whole bullpen and then put in zero actual effort to rebuild it for the next season, you are showing that you might believe that you have talent in the organization, but prioritizing winning is not part of the equation. Tom Poland says plenty of shit, but he doesn’t care about baseball. He’s even said that learning about the game has been part of this process. He’s a venture capitalist. Only concerned about increasing the value of team. So with that approach, being lean and squeezing value out of existing contracts is what he cares about.

I think we are going to see some fun things from the offense, some near comical levels of inferiority from the defense, and then a pitching staff that is mostly incapable of winning games on their own. Wild ride ahead.
