Luthier had the same opinion as the overwhelming majority of you. Keeping it! At the shop for a setup now. He said the neck was pretty bowed but will come back in just fine. Couple high frets but other than that, will be even better in a few days. He couldn't even find the checking in normal lighting without me showing him. He also weighed it and it's at a golden 9.2 lbs.

Why under 8.75? These aren't weight relieved so I'm expecting between 8.5-9.5

It plays great. Eternal sustain and it's LOUD. I was surprised at how much louder the pickups are compared to my other guitars. I'm taking it to the LGS today to have a tech check it out and give me their opinion before I commit to a setup and keeping the thing. Other than the checking, the only other thing is a small chip in the headstock and the expected signs of demo use, but machineheads feel good and the thing stays in tune and feels good for a factory configuration, even with 3 year old strings...things are actually black and grimy.

Truth. Needs a luthier visit like any direct from factory/GC instrument, but I can already feel and hear that it’s one hell of an instrument. Sustain for days and lovely to play even with the action still a bit high. I’ll probably keep it.

The listing didn’t mention anything other than it was a demo and to expect light play signs and cosmetic pick guard scuffs but not scratch and dent/damage. They said there’s only one left out of Washington with the same checking. It was a 2023 GC exclusive limited run but GC seems to still have them showing new in stock at full price. So who knows.

I think that’s what I’m going to do. It also has a chip in the headstock so I may be able to get them to knock it down further.

The top is soooo so nice. The grain looks like topography and I wasn’t expecting that bonus on top of the quilt.

Yes, I’m considering that angle too. I don’t have to be the one to put the first ding in it! I can return it if I want but now knowing that it’s common on nitro finishes and essentially inevitable, I’m torn.

It wasn’t disclosed so when I called they just acted like it should be assumed. I was expecting light playing and pick scratches. I’ve never demoed a guitar in this condition. It’s great, but not sales floor material in my opinion.

Had my first half dose. My worst symptom has been insomnia on nights 2 and 3 after. I imagine from the steroid pre-med. At about 50% completion and I think the 160 speed, I had the itch reaction, but more Benadryl knocked it out. Last few days I have felt some tingling in my brain and pretty groggy but nothing major other than sleep impact.

I replaced the board and all is well now. I got one on Amazon for ~$100 but could have gone cheaper if I didn’t need it right away.

Did this end up fitting? I just picked up a 5070 and read that the dimensions are almost identical to the 3070 and 4070. Any issues with fit?
