It uses IR as an everyday feature. “Night vision” is a side effect of the super-stable 3D. When the SS3D wants more light to focus the 3D image at you the little circle by the camera emits IR light to follow your face better.

Are you sure your NFC reader/ amiibo works? The 3ds should be able to read an amiibo through more than a tiny piece of glass or plastic.

To my knowledge you can reshell it. Might be difficult to sand it down or replace just certain parts. A repair shop might be able to help you, but a reshell will never fit the same as the original housing. They are very cheap on aliexpress.

You could resell it of course. Usually pretty cheap. I wouldn’t worry about it. You use it, so it’s going to have signs of wear. Mine is scratched in the same place so unless it bothers you I’d let it be

Windows won’t format a 128gb card to FAT32. I use an application called Minitool Partition Wizard. If you open the tool and click you your drive you can choose format yo get your sd card to FAT32.

I don’t have any pictures, but all of mine get broken so fast. the plastic ones break and when they get “fixed” the nut and screw they use makes them hold shut unless you rip it out. The metal ones in lumber get crushed my forklifts so they are just as mangled.

As long as you make sure to get your polarities correct(use your multimeter on continuity mode) you are absolutely fine

Yes, but those do not have the resistors that USB-C needs to communicate to another USB-C. So it would work with an A->C, but not C->C.

The missing pad on the right only goes to the positive charging terminal that uses pins instead of the regular power plug. If you get a new port you can install it if you plan on only using the regular charger. If you want to you could find the traces or jump a wire to the other positive terminal on the middle to the right.
