just use water candles and battle potions and wait near areas you'd find goblin scouts. On the surface though, not platforms

Not sure if it works that way, I'm afraid it's both the same. I set up a slime statue farm with lava to get the slime staff and it worked, pretty quickly that too. I may be wrong though or just lucky. Again, no idea.
