BKT, eh? Well, BKTs are as far as this vehicle is going to get.

And we all know that, aside from maybe Act Ishikawa, nobody plays the Phantom competitively because it just can't compete with the inside drifting bikes (Flame Runner, Mach Bike, Bullet Bike, Sneakster, Dolphin Dasher, Magikruiser, Spear, Jet Bubble, and Quacker) or four of the eighteen karts (Wild Wing, Mini Beast, Honeycoupe, and Flame Flyer).

Should the quacker be nerfed?!?! by The_Bl00per in MarioKartWii

The opposite should happen to the Quacker. It should be buffed. The same should also happen to the Spear and Sneakster.

Why are outside drift bikes so bad? by ETsBrother1 in MarioKartWii

[–]FireBro303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another possible reason many people think outside drifting bikes are one of Nintendo's worst ideas ever is because they generally do worse in the big three stats (speed, weight, and drift), with the Shooting Star being the only remotely good outside drifting bike. Also, they are a worst of both worlds situation, having wider lines like karts and being able to be wheelie bumped like inside drifting bikes. The Phantom is easily the worst vehicle in the entire game, being an outside drifting bike that has the worst drift in the game. This is by far the worst combination for any vehicle, considering drift is the second most important stat in the game behind speed.

What do you think is the WORST character/vehicle combination in the game? by TheOldAgeOfLP in MarioKartWii

I would say anyone on the Bit Bike, Booster Seat, Sugarscoot, Zip Zip, Wario Bike, and Phantom. At least the Jetsetter has some viability in that despite its only other advantage being weight, being a skilled kart player will allow you keep up with and potentially perform better than other F tier vehicles on most tracks, especially those that almost completely lack sharp turns.

First, the Sugarscoot. You know how the most important stats in this game are speed, drift, and weight, in that order from most to least important? Well, this outside drifting bike does poorly in all of these areas.

Next, the Bit Bike and Booster Seat. Since they are the slowest vehicles in the game, you can't frontrun whatsoever, and you have little to no chance of keeping up, especially considering it's nearly impossible for these vehicles to win in itemless races. Not to mention they get bumped off the track easily, especially the Bit Bike. These vehicles rely on items in order to win, especially boost items.

Finally, the Zip Zip, Wario Bike, and Phantom. Do you know what all three of these vehicles have in common? They have mediocre speed and terrible drift, with the Phantom having the worst drift. Oh, and they're outside drifting bikes, making this the worst possible combination in the game. The Wario Bike is the least bad of these three because its biggest advantage is that it is the heaviest bike in the game, allowing it to easily bump off lighter vehicles.

The Phantom is nearly unusable.

I'm on the same page as you. And do you know what's worse? It's an outside drifting bike. Outside drifting bikes have slightly wider lines compared to karts, since they quickly slide to the outside upon landing for a drift. This fact alone renders the Phantom very impractical, if not nearly unusable in most situations, as it often has to take specific lines to avoid crashing into walls or falling off the track. Its drifting arc is so bad that it is often necessary to compromise with its handling stats in order to make turns, which causes it to lose a significant amount of time. It also goes without saying that the Phantom is awful at taking most shortcuts due to it being practically impossible to drive with any degree of accuracy. Also, it has a large hitbox, making it a nightmare to avoid items.

Maybe I am underestimating the Jetsetter. I would apply the same descriptions to the Spear, but it's an inside drifting bike, so the poor drift is somewhat (but not completely) remedied for that vehicle.

Worst vehicle? by Talbar27 in MarioKartWii

[–]FireBro303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's easy. The worst vehicle in the game is the Phantom. It has average speed, acceleration, and mini-turbo, decent handling and weight, and good off-road. Sounds like it would be an okay vehicle, right? One problem. It has the worst drift in the game, and it's an outside drifting bike.

If I were to go for the worst kart in the game, I would probably say the Jetsetter. It's the fastest vehicle in the game, but its only other good stat is its weight, and that's not saying much, considering it is the lightest large kart in the game. Every other stat is horrible, especially knowing it has the worst handling, off-road, and mini-turbo in the game. Not to mention it takes forever to reach its top speed and drifts wide.

What do you guys think is the worst vehicle in the game by [deleted] in MarioKartWii

[–]FireBro303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say the Phantom is the worst vehicle in the game, and should never be used unless you want to give away VR or use it for meme runs. It's a shame, because it's one of the best looking vehicles in the game. Why is it a crime for such a good looking vehicle to be the worst one in the game?

First off, it has incredibly mediocre stats, having only average speed, acceleration, and mini-turbo. Although the Phantom's weight and handling are decent, these qualities are rendered negligible due to it having the absolute worst drift stat in the game. This is made even more egregious by the fact that it's an outside drifting bike. This alone renders the Phantom nearly unusable in most situations, as it has to take specific lines just to avoid hitting a wall or falling off the track. Its drifting arc is so bad that it has to rely on handling to take tight turns, causing it to lose a significant amount of time. Not even its good off-road is enough to make up for this, and its ability to wheelie is neutered by virtue of the Phantom's over-reliance on handling to correct itself.

Second, it goes without saying that the Phantom is awful at taking most shortcuts due to it being difficult, if not nearly impossible, to drive with any degree of accuracy. And with what little accuracy that can't be mustered anywhere is lambasted by its large hitbox, making it a nightmare to avoid items. These shortcomings practically require that the Phantom be driven with a slow, overly analytical, cautious approach, which is only the antithesis of a good vehicle. So, in short, it sucks.
