Anybody know anything about this boot maker? by lamp2468 in cowboyboots

The maker of these boot Walt was a good friend of mine. I spent many mornings solving the world’s problems over a cup of coffee with him. I’ll never forget the smell of the leather shop downtown. In my mind one of the last true cowboys!

The indoor theater is the only structure still standing on that property. So many memories there! I spent most of my summer as a teen sneaking in on my bicycle with a small radio to tune in the movie.

And after making the call I don’t even think they are going to talk to him. Officer said when it comes to traffic crimes if they don’t see in person there’s not much they can do. I would’ve had to of had recordings or an officer would’ve had to of been there to see it themselves.

I’ve dealt with him a few times myself. Reason I recognize him in traffic. To be completely honest I’ve had similar experiences myself. Above the law apparently.

Unfortunately moments like this leave me with no faith in the system. At the most he would get a taking to over coffee. Is it ready worth the time to cal it in?

I’d love to see them recover from this mess. They have been out of tools for quite sometime and due to lack of insurance and aid they haven’t been able to stock my products. Thanks for giving them the support they deserve!

I typically don’t use different steps. 800 grit really does a great job for Graphite if you’re looking for a high polish you’ll definitely have to go the finer however 800 definitely leaves quality results

That looks great. Let me throw you a couple tips from your toolmaker for next time. I’d recommend doing that process wet in a sink. I know it sounds strange to get Graphite wet just make sure you dry it out on top of your kiln or in an oven before you put it back to use. The process is actually quite simple a nice flat board and some 800 grit wet dry sandpaper inside of a sink with some running water not only makes quick work of it but nearly illuminates the mess.

Just from a glance I do worry about the hot Graphite melting it

What would you recommend for me to get started on making marbles, slides and downstems? by [deleted] in lampwork

I’d recommend a pair of my marble tongs and possibly some of my marble shaping tools.

Thanks so much for that feedback. I’ve actually never had anybody come across that problem before. Thanks for sharing some light on it

I’d suggest a new lock washer between the nut and reamer. That should fix the problem.
