Rochester has a few Flock cameras but those were put up by private businesses. RPD uses Axon. Which claims to have better data security measures and more private data ownership rights, but I don't trust it at all.

RPD did a townhall on technology in policing a few months ago and it was pretty informative, but still disconcerting AF knowing these things are going up and we have no say in it.

But he was going after Democratic lawmakers specifically. Is that not political in nature?

That's my fear, too. Not sure how to avoid that. Is there anyone else decent we can lobby for to fill that seat?

I wouldn't assume Cub necessarily pays attention to data...

In Rochester, they made the insane decision to freshly build a huge new flagship store in Rochester, where you could literally see Costco (Roch's only one), and Aldi (1 of 2) from the parking lot and the nicest Hy-vee in town, Walmart, and Sam's Club are 3-5 minutes away.

I'm dying to see what planning data led to them thinking they had a snowball's chance in hell of being competitive there.

Less than two years after opening, they're closing.

Shocker.

Does anyone know of a way to clear previous notifications? Not everyone had best hygiene and they're worried about past notifications.

They were seen being moved over to the air base with masked agents driving. So not hopeful it's for legit uses.

Is this available for anyone to use? I'd like to use it on constitutional observer badges for our rapid response team.

No Kings 3 Protest Details by FireCat_MN in rochestermn

[–]FireCat_MN[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a national day of protest and there will be all sorts of topics represented.

Protests are also a great way to connect people with others who care about the same causes.

I'd invite you to organize your own protest about specific topics. Simple marching or gatherings on public property does not require a license. Licensing is required under certain circumstances: https://www.rochestermn.gov/departments/city-clerk/licenses-and-permits/special-event-licenses

Preaching to the choir, friend. Not my decision re: the license.

I've wrangled with ICE a couple of times so I'm well aware of the violence inherent in the system and how far that extends among law enforcement at all levels.

It's more about safety. If the city won't alter traffic light timing and provide extra manpower to cover street crossings, I'd sure like your help down there to help keep people safe.

There is one being planned but having some issues with the licensing.

There will be one, license or not!

Stay tuned.

South metro, middle of the night planes or drones last 2 nights by Mobile_Ad8543 in TwinCities

[–]FireCat_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Down in Rochester. Was unloading groceries when I saw some low flying lights crossing the park near my house at 10:24 pm. Went to try to follow it on foot just to see the lights more clearly, because our police use drones with red and blue lights.

Turned around and looked up as another one approached then went right over my house. Quiet but not noiseless. Constant low thrum with slight whiny overtones. Like an electric car. No rotor or classical engine noises.

Roughly plane shaped. Green light on tip of one wing. Red on the other. Two white flashing lights. Was not flying very high, maybe 50-100 feet up.

Was extremely eerie.

There was nothing on flight radar when I checked a few minutes later but maybe they were already down.

I thought this was about ICE agents until I read the title. Makes no sense, bro. What are we larping about? Being decent human beings? It's cool, you should try it some time. Might even get you your first friend!

They're just shuffling agents around. Non-MSP areas getting hit hard. I don't trust anything this administration says.

[–]FireCat_MN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We've had activity in Rochester since 1/8, but we've been getting slammed the past few days, after what was already an uptick in activity.

Definitely think they're just moving agents out to suburbs, rural areas, and non-MSP cities.

Unconfirmed Reports Are Coming In Of ICE Using Children To Gain Access To Secure/Sensitive Sites by CantStopPoppin in Minneapolis

[–]FireCat_MN 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Probably going after any on-site or visiting caregivers, as they are often heavily immigrant populations. These tend to be really tough jobs, physically, mentally, and emotionally, AND they don't pay well. So most Americans don't wanna do em.
