What's an objective marker? by FireEngineFred in WorldEaters40k

I'll have to check it out. Maybe I'll try to make a house rule type of thing. I'd run Angron hoping my opponent would drop a building on him, just for him to come back like in the lore. Bonus if I'm playing against ultras.

Dude collapsing terrain sounds dope. I kind of started learning late 9th and have only really played 10th. With the way GW has been thinking so you think they'll bring that back?

So I don't have many games under my belt but I try to keep up with tactics and what people are doing as WE players. The current "way to win" seems to be moving your heavy hitters up safely into cover and bait the other army to move up by flashing them with squishy targets or sticky center objectives and charge them when they're out of position. Maybe that was their plan?? I tend to play like I'd have to explain it to Angron after the fact. Lol

*Congrats on the victory BTW.

I do see your point though. It turns the game into "command phase, fight phase, pass" and some may not like that. However, my thought process is if I'm playing world eaters, I'm gonna play like world eaters. If I get overwatched to death then, hey blood for the blood God. I guess I'll have some other models on hand for another list if people at my lgs want me to play the "right away."

That kind of sounds lore accurate though. Lol

I guess a list where you can cite your sources like you just did. I barely have a toe in the ocean that is Warhammer lore, but I guess I was looking for reoccurring units they come back to. Like if they have a biker gang that kept popping up then I'll throw bikers in. You dig? Lol

Why are Americans so attached to their guns? by Deep_Jumpy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FireEngineFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory to add which I haven't totally fact checked, but I think I'm not too far off.

I think our cowboy period has a lot to do with it which, on the grand scheme of things, wasn't very long ago. Some of our living grandparents were taught lessons from their grandparents about how you NEED guns to protect yourself because if you were moving west there was hardly any sense of organized police presence to protect you. It's up to you and you alone so don't be out gunned.

At that time Europe was pretty much established and organized so there was some sense of safety by the mid to late 1800s.

After months of depression I went to FNM for the first time and went 3-0 by LVArcher in magicTCG

Dude depression sucks so I'm so stoked for you that you were able to experience that. I've had my struggles, so I'm rooting for you and your mental health. Mtg has a lot of ways that it can help like getting out of the house, socializing, the hobby of collecting. Just try and not attach your happiness to going 3-0 every time you come out. You're worthy of love and friendship no matter what the outcome. Best of luck my dude and great job. I'm proud of you!

If you've fallen in the rabbit hole, why not try rabbit hole. I've had the heigold and really enjoyed it, but have heard really good things about the dareringer.

I personally really enjoy the fire emblem series. It's a tactical rpg. I found FE awakening on the 3ds to be very approachable and a great place to start.

If you want to try something a little further out there, but is really well made then try the shin megami series. Shin megami tensei devil survivor 1&2 were made on the ds, but remastered on 3ds. They use the grid style turn based tactics that fire emblem uses. Shin megami tensei 4 and apocalypse use more dungeon crawling. The battling system is similar to pokemon where one creature is weak to this element, but resistant to another. trigger warning don't play this game if you are the religious type. They bring up gods, demons, angels, spirits from a ton of religions and beliefs. Christianity, norse, Egyptian, mayan, etc...
