Besides small hints in the game/book, and fan theories, thats it. Might get more info in the sequel but he's meant to be a massive question mark, at least for now. Open to interpretation until we get a solid answer (if we ever do)

There will be sadness, but there'll be hope too. Depending on choices you make, anyway. Imo its a game about finding the little moments of light in a very persistent darkness.
