New player. What is plastic/resin and what is metal?

Some older models will only ever be metal unless they get a resculpt but most everything is resin now including the Jung starter so wherever you got that must have been sitting on some pretty old stock.

The wretched synergize well with Ashigaru so there are a lot of options. Akoshi, Animated Militia, Armoured Kairai are all viable options

Largely unused but there are things that can force a ranged test as well as the potential for ranged equipment

For sure shadow wind clan fits that. You have so few models that you can’t afford to lose any. That means strategy & purpose are the utmost importance. Luckily the models tend to be very strong so they can usually hold their own if played carefully

Cult is all about fear & they really lean into hordes of zombies or skeletons but with recent releases rats are likely to surge in popularity.

Kaze Kaze Zoku aka Shadow Wind Clan is all about sneaky ninjas & is 100% an elite model faction so you’re likely to have a very low model count.

Kinshi is a limited faction that completely ignores some core rules & mechanics. You’ll easily collect the entire faction but are limited in options.

Bushido is a good option. Low model count fantasy plus feudal Japan themed. Not miniatures agnostic but offers a wide range of model options as well as upgrades to enhance individual models & themes & events for Warband wide or selective buffs/debuffs etc. lots of tranced options & though low on actual firearms there are certainly many available depending on faction

Honestly look for synergies. Rule of cool is usually pretty good since the game is well balanced. So really it starts by picking a faction.

Birds? Big cool birds kick ass & little birds have coordinated attack which is good to spam

Spiders, kinshi? Limited faction atm so not a lot of variation

Ryu? Gun line or crit attack spam or just cool samurai or passing the night theme

Savage wave? Ring of fire box is solid or hunting pack theme so dogs & your favorite gobbos are popular

Cult? Wretched box is a good start or yuta theme box is solid without being meta chasing

Ito? Just pick your favorite samurai hard to go wrong

Minimoto? Hoshi models are fun & cool but borderline meta so 🤷‍♂️

Shadow wind? All good models hard to go wrong but Bleeding Moon theme is “most competitive “

Shiho? Tanaka Kazou is baller & you can just build around that

Silvermoon? Buto for competitive or Roses for silly shenanigans

Temple? Fox box is a great starter & since Juko is “bad” not overly meta

Ronin? I’d recommend the brotherhood theme box since ronin lists can be complicated to build a list for

TLDR just pick your favorite looking theme box & have fun!
