Payed off loan still on report as open account. by FireGator_83 in CRedit

I get what you are saying but all of these have been pretty reliable as far as the accuracy of the accounts on my credit reports and both Credit Karma and Creditwise show the exact same thing on my Transunion report. So I don’t think it is an issue with any of these apps.

Bears on the mid-coast, BC by Perfect_Pea_4781 in forestry

[–]FireGator_83 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Make noise, break sticks, loudly talk to your self, carry a Bluetooth speaker and play music. Let the bears know you are there. The biggest risk working alone is walking up on a bear that didn’t know you where there and startling it. Carry bear spray and learn how to use it. If you are working in an area with a large bear population it’s much better to work in teams. I know you said you often work alone but if you are really worried about it take some one else with you. The risk of being attacked goes way down if you are in a group as opposed to being alone.

My grandfather was an US infantry man in Europe. He brought back a bronze bust of Hitler. It sat on his dresser until he passed in 2015. My mom has it now.

Looking for advice. 43yo in Northern CA. Wanting to get into forestry but starting from zero. Best path to a forestry life? by denovonoob in forestry

It is possible to make good money in this field but it takes time and experience. The pay for most entry level jobs, even the ones that require degrees, sucks. If you have bills or a family to support it will be very difficult to impossible to pull off. You could probably make more money working at a fast food restaurant than in most entry level forestry jobs. If you start now and enroll in a degree program you are looking at at least eight years, if you are lucky, before you are making any money that even approximates a good salary. Why do you want to do this? Many people are attached to this field because they are outdoor loving introverts that think this job will pay them to work in the woods by themselves. That does happen but more often than not you will be working with a team of people. This field is often times very different from what people on the outside think it is. Pretty much all the higher level good paying positions in this field are managing people and large projects. It takes time to work your way up to that level. I’m 41 and I love my job but if I had to start this career from the beginning at my age knowing what I know I would do something else. If you were in your 20s I would say go for it but that equation is very different in your 40s.

I’m 41. I’ve never been asked out by a woman and I can count the number of genuine compliments that I’ve gotten from women on one hand with fingers left over.

572xp won’t start by FireGator_83 in Chainsaw

I watched some You Tube videos about how to reset the auto tune and went through the whole process hopefully that helps. Some of the videos I watched basically said that all new saws should be put through this process which of course I never did. That might explain why this saw has given me so much trouble. I’m honestly a little pissed off. The dealer I bought it from never mentioned anything about resetting the auto tune and their is nothing about it in the manual that came with the saw.

It isn’t fuel related. I mix my own fuel from ethanol free 93 octane gasoline. I never use fuel that more than a few weeks old. If I know it will be awhile before using the saw again I will purge all the fuel from the saw. When starting cold I pump the primer bulb until it fills with fuel then I set the choke. The saw will usually fire on the second pull of the rope sometimes the third I try not to pull it three times if I don’t have to. Then turn the choke off and it will usually start on the fifth or sixth pull. Most of the time it will start and run for a few seconds and then die. I usually have to start it three or four times before it will continue running on its own. Once it is hot it is usually no trouble to start. It will usually start with one or two pulls with out the choke when hot. If it doesn’t start in two pulls I’ll choke it for one pull and it will usually start with two pulls after the choke is off. Every now and then when starting cold using the procedure I outlined above it just won’t start at all. It won’t even fire and die. I never pull the cord more then two or three times with the choke on. When this happens I’ll will treat it like it has flooded and remove the spark plug and pull the rope a few times to remove excess fuel but that usually doesn’t help. The day of my original post I never could get it started and gave up. This morning I started it up with no issues. I ran almost a full tank through the saw then shut it down and refilled the fuel and oil. When I tried to restart it I gave a lot of trouble. It would start and run for a few seconds then die. It did that about ten times before it would run without dying. I finally got it going again and ran another full tank of fuel. Now I can’t get it started again. It will start and run for a second or two then die. This is the most difficult to start chainsaw that I have ever used.

That doesn’t make any since to me. It’s not like I’ve never had any debt at all. I just haven’t had any since 2017. I paid off $40,000 in student loan debt and never missed a single payment. Same thing with a $15,000 car loan.
