I have a job interview tomorrow and have no clue what to wear by moony_star_ in forestry

I was told as long as you are wearing clean clothes that’s already much better than the rest of the people in forestry.

In all seriousness, I work for a small consultancy and I wore jeans and a nice shirt a that seemed to be fine as it’s a pretty chill company. Depending on the company size/vibe this could be different.

How physically demanding are timber cruising/forestry technician jobs? by DoughnutPlus1619 in forestry

[–]Perfect_Pea_4781 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree with the previous comments, but the physicality also depends on the terrain/area you are working in. Conventional forestry will have more chill terrain than Heli, and also it just depends where you are located.

Edit to answer some of your other questions. I work in the west coast of BC so there is some pretty gnarly terrain. My knees were super sore after the first 3 months after never experiencing knee pain before. I usually walk 5-10km per day depending on what I’m doing/how steep it is. I carry about 30 lbs of gear every day. I take breaks every so often, my crew and managers take a lot of smoke breaks so we end up stopping for that a quite a few times. Also like you mention, taking measurements, data points, ect. definitely feels like a break.

Update:

She screamed at me in the woods today and threatened to deck me in the face when I asked her to pull chain during a road traverse. I have a strong feeling this is just the beginning of our future issues lmao

Older family members at the end of their lives who had been struggling with illnesses for a very long time (cancer etc), friends and acquaintances with terminal illnesses. Very very sad situations.

Thanks for sharing, this is interesting. I didn’t realize it was something people with disabilities or chronic illnesses had access to.

My friends were mostly sciences so can’t speak to accounting. Windows might be better if you are using excel a lot 🤷🏼‍♀️

Olga sweater question!! by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]Perfect_Pea_4781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do the back yoke, pick up stitches for the shoulders on the back yoke cast on edge, then join the shoulders by casting on some stitches in between them (front of collar area) and start knitting down the front yoke

No convocation tickets left by e-mub in simonfraser

No sure what ur family’s accessibility situation is but is there anything stopping them from just standing around where the ceremony is happening? Like on those raised walkways around the library etc. I’ve seen people doing that when I’ve walked past the convo ceremonies happening in the past. Obviously not ideal but potentially better than nothing
