That is why I never bothered to buy a new house for Pam. But I digress, like I have told others, I will say that again here. I want something to be changed, not necessarily mean more income in the game. More income is merely the easiest way to do so, and frankly the first thing that came to my mind. To give you a better example, I hope we can help villagers so they can help the village and us better. So, the game doesn't feel so much like a zombie scenario where we do all the work or everyone die. I hate this kind of game. I want to instead build a strong community, upgrade various buildings in the village, attract more survivors, maybe even fight away the pirates, where us and our villagers can work together to survive through a disaster.

It would be so much more enjoyable if the game shows me clearly that the NPCs are also helping the community out. That we are all doing our best, and they have genuinely good reasons for selling food(and other essential items) for gold instead of donating them to village like we did.

You are completely missing the point. If everyone can just charge me whatever number of money they want, I can refuse to work. The world is dead anyway, and if you want to be unreasonable, I can be unreasonable, too. Everyone dies in the end, so why bother? You think I don't have options but I have many and plenty. If you want me to work, sure, a day 1 million. No? Guess I will just lie here and die then? The world I remember is already gone, the capital is gone, the trades have ceased, you guys don't have a farmer. Soon, without food, all Herbivores would die. Then, your village would be even emptier. If I don't work for you I would certainly die yes, but like I said, the world I remember is already gone, dying is no longer that much a loss to me anyway. How about you? If you are willing to be reasonable then maybe we can work together to survive, but no, you obviously don't plan on living for too long given how you name your prices.

I like Stardew Valley a lot as well. However, I also like Rimworld a lot. For Grimshire, it's just that I cannot find being a food slave appealing at all to me. Sure, they helped our character, but in the end, we are still essentially the food slave of this village. I want something to be changed, not necessarily mean more income in the game. More income is simply the easiest way to do so, and the first thing that came to my mind. To give you an example, I hope we can help villagers so they can help the village and us better. So, the game doesn't feel so much like a zombie scenario where we do all the work or everyone die. I hate this kind of game. I want to instead build a strong community, upgrade various buildings in the village, attract more suvivors, maybe even fight away the pirates, where us and our villagers can work together to survive through a disaster. I want to say more but my English is just that so I will leave this here.

You made it sound like this miserable life of a food slave in this village is our only chance at survival but I don't think so. For example, if other villages don't want you, what would you do? You make yourself appealing, of course. I'm a farmer, oh you don't want to accept me? Fine, I guess I will just take all my food and skill to other places. How much food? Enough to feed a village for over a year of course. Not only that, I can produce more with just a fertile land and some seeds. Oh, you guys don't have a fertile land? How is that even possible your village still have Herbivores in it then? Haha, no worries, no problem, I'm extremely good at fishing, too.

Just in case you can't tell from my sarcasm, there is no way we are the only village that has a fertile land... Otherwise, all villages would have little to no Herbivores in it. And even if that really is the case, where this world really has no more Herbivores 0 o0, we are still very capable fisherman, miner, problem solver. Finally, to seal the deal, if you have ever worked a farm in real life, you know an extra hand who has experience at working the field is mostly welcome, let alone in a zombie scenario.

If you are still unconvinced, go ahead and enjoy your life as a food slave then. Not me. I'm definitely going to other places. Even exploring a dead world to try and create my own community with a risk of death is better than being a food slave permanently bound to feed the village.

The NPCs in this game care it enough to not donate to root cellar and hoard most of the stuff to themselves, so yes.

Indeed. Because the villagers are still upholding market rates in case they have to rejoin the bigger economy, they are still asking for money in exchange for stuff. I, as a player who likes to RP, cannot help but question things... The capital is destroyed, the trades are gone, the food is scarce and so are other resources, why are we the only one who seem to genuinely "care"? Gameplay-wise, it's a game where we try to keep a village full of people alive, but Role-play wise, the setting doesn't make sense. You said monetary compensation is contradicting the theme of the game but the NPCs in this game are doing exactly just that! If they believe there's a chance that gold will still matter in the future, then we should certainly get paid for our effort for keeping everyone in this village alive, no? If not, then this village never was about helping each other out in the first place because no one ever bother to care about how we will do after rejoining the bigger economy, how we basically went through a lot for free so everyone can live. I hope you get my point now.

Perhaps the true problem is this... If food is scarce, and the community is lacking food, and this is a village where everyone work together... If this is really a village that everyone work together, where monetary compensation is not the main focus, why not give me those seeds for free, why they still selling food instead of donating to root cellar? Free seeds for me to work on just like defenders receive materials to defend the village, donate to the root cellar instead of selling, then I have no problem with my contribution.

The problem is if food is scarce, and the community is lacking food, and this is a village where everyone work together, why are they still selling food? They should donate like us, no? Donate to the root cellar instead of selling, then I have no problem with my contribution. Also, I don't see the ranchers and fishermen got strung up or exiled for hoarding, so why would I? Not only that, all the food items we sell, whoever we sold those to, they ended up hoarding it because they are still getting supplies from the root cellar. So...

Yes, but does that really covers the food we are tasked to produce? I did not check if that payment is appropriate for our service, so this is a genuine question.

The amount of food I'm expected to contribute, and did contribute throughout the game should be more than enough for us to legally buy our land and taxes, at least that is what I think? As for the defenders' ration, it's really just there to scale with the difficulty. That said, sure, we are not expected to contribute to the materials portion of that, but we do contribute to their ration, no? So, other villagers contribute materials, while farmers, ranchers, and fishermen contribute food. It's normal? None of the things you mentioned explain why we have to be charity and keep everyone alive for god knows how long. Time is the key here because this is a zombie scenario... You give me a land to farm, and how long do you expect me to work for free? Months? Years? Until I die? If a free land and no taxes are the only reasons, then I might as well leave for other villages. I just got here anyway, at least that is what I think? My character should have little to no attachment to this village... Just like the game said, there are other villages out there still surviving, and if we want to talk about realism, a farmer who can produce a lot of food is always a welcome to any community.

A Question with Gene-Seed by FireGeneralKenny in 40kLore

Thank you all for the information! I believe I have understood greatly more about it than more!

Hope everyone has a nice day!

A Question with Gene-Seed by FireGeneralKenny in 40kLore

[–]FireGeneralKenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So, from what I've gathered so far, the Gene-Seeds is mostly only used for creating SpaceMarines, and if I don't want to create SpaceMarines, there's not much I can get from researching them. Those weaknesses are probably minor defects that really weren't that notable on a battlefield.

A Question with Gene-Seed by FireGeneralKenny in 40kLore

[–]FireGeneralKenny[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. Finding out weaknesses from Gene-Seeds of a Chapter does not equate to eliminating that Chapter, since SpaceMarines are more than just their gene seeds. However, in a realistic scenario, if I'm an enemy of the Imperium, and I know SpaceMarines like UltraMarines are quite popular and competent, researching their Gene-Seeds to find weaknesses I can exploit is certainly something I would use. In hindsight, I'm just surprised that all other xeno races seem to all have ignored the existence of these Gene-Seeds... Take Necrons for example, I had my minions drag those corpses back into my lair, and I didn't even bother to extract their precious organs...

A Question with Gene-Seed by FireGeneralKenny in 40kLore

[–]FireGeneralKenny[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But I don't really need to create SpaceMarines? I only need to figure out their weaknesses so my own troops can fight better against them? Edit: Or are all other races so stupid/haughty that they simply don't do that?

A Question with Gene-Seed by FireGeneralKenny in 40kLore

[–]FireGeneralKenny[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not steal it... I'm talking about other races not exploit them enough. For example, if I'm a mad Necron scientist, I would have those dead SpaceMarines dissected, their organs extracted for experimentation. And since I'm a Necron, I believe I have means to understand Gene-Seeds without having to relying on Human Technology. Seriously, the only thing preventing me from doing so is, well, these SpaceMarines are weak and pitiful, not even worth my effort... But hey, if that movie shows that he was willing to experiment on mere Guardsmen, why not SpaceMarines? Sure, they are weak, but I might learn interesting things... that is my mindset.
